Usually music videos by non-pop artists can be boring and monotonous, but Yoon Mi Rae‘s MV for “Get It In” is anything but that.

It starts with Yoon Mi Rae walking into a dark room and stumbling upon a samurai sword embedded in the floor. Soon enough the background of the room starts changing and she strangely knows kendo for whatever reason.

Anyway, as she proceeds, she’s confronted by about 10 dudes in suits. Right about here the MV takes a turn for the epic due to a “Kill Bill” vibe, with Yoon Mi Rae dispatching her assailants via breathtaking fight sequences.
After she’s done with them, she finds herself outside the room in the rain and with the blade still in her hands. This time around she’s confronted by a single individual (real life husband, Tiger JK), which is awesome, because it’s like a fighting video game and he’s the big boss at the end.

After she beats him, she’s able to turn the samurai sword into a lightsaber, which should score negative points for the concept and story because it basically makes zero sense, but I don’t care because lightsabers are fucking AWESOME.

As I mentioned, the background to the main set was constantly changing, and the backgrounds themselves were amazing to look at. More importantly though, it all looked professional and the special effects were used impressively. The use of color for certain scenes was cool as well, though I’m sure part of that was to get around the censors, as blood flying everywhere is generally frowned upon. Bringing it all together was a creative and intelligent flow of still shots, slow motion, and closeups.

“Get It In” is absolutely one of the best music videos I have seen in 2011. From the interesting concept and story to the amazing fight scenes and visuals to the smooth and intelligent direction, it was simply an all around success.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
