2PM’s Nichkhun realizes his hypocrisy, tones down disrespect towards Block B

IATFB 02/20/2012 36

While it’s understandable that 2PM‘s Nichkhun was unhappy with Block B‘s actions in an interview held in Thailand, it was a bit odd that he was so public with his feelings and lecturing in his tone.

I mentioned this in passing earlier, but Nichkhun himself is not exactly without controversy in regards to natural disasters.

Some people think it’s weird that so many disasters are happening all around the world. The Earth is just trying to rearrange its shape. Think about the way you rearrange your bedroom. You change the settings of things, you buy some and throw some away. It’s the cycle of life.

Of course, he said that about the earthquake in Japan, so while he was forced to apologize, the Korean media and Korean public are not going to make a gigantic deal out of it because … well … they don’t like Japan. Furthermore, he’s not Korean, he’s Thai, so there’s no saving face for the nation angle to that either.

Still, he was being sort of a hypocritical dick by blowing up Block B’s spot when he should know more than anybody about making gigantic public mistakes.

I guess people reminded him of this, because his tone changed quite a bit.

Please, don’t say things like “wish someone would die” but hope they would learn. Like we all do, like I did from my own mistakes.

Oops.

Wonder if Hottests feel stupid for the death threats, suicide wishes, and disbandment requests directed towards Block B.

They should.

I don’t understand why suicide petitions & disbandment are go-to “solutions” for kpop. Is all the hurt that the person feels, joyful for these people, or do they really think suicide will solve things?

I now think I may have been executed if I were an idol.

      Just straight up emotional reaction.

They should feel stupid for it but they probably wont. Im hearing now people are sending threats to Zico’s mom.

Really? That woman has gone some shit in the past, I heard she was the one the Coed boys turned to when the Kangho rape incident came up and now this..oh boy

      • IATFB 02/20/2012 at 5:34 PM -

Yes, apparently they are sending her threats.

  5. rageless 02/20/2012 at 7:06 AM -

Most hardcore kpop fans are a bunch of sad raging individuals. Death threats, suicide petitions, ruined careers over a bunch of guys acting like 8 year olds on TV… Is your life so empty and meaningless that you have to feast on pseudo-famous people stupidity?

It would be much easier for public figures to just shut down their social network accounts, keep their thoughts to themselves and let their companies do the promoting.

    • Wanted_More 02/20/2012 at 7:16 AM -

Yeah, anybody who would sign for a suicide petition, really needs to get of there high horse.

What a week in Kpop, I must say. But I have to agree with this article. As a “sunbae” in the Kpop industry Nichkhun and the other ranting 2PM members should have addressed Block B in private and explained to them there fault of there actions. But that’s just my logical ass thinking. They and we know the Kpop fans are notorious for being die hard crazy fans. And as a artist in the industry that is use to having crazy people supporting you. They should of have known there actions would of have caused a reaction. Now Nichkhun have given free reign to the crazy people and gave them something to be crazy about.

And the fact he himself has been just as hypocritical and have made this same exact mistake he should of have been understanding of how this should of have happen and repercussions that it would cause. And to all of those who are signing this stupid petition. Let’s just start a petition for all Kpop artist who have done disgraceful stupid shit. I bet more then 10 of your favorite artist make that list.

    Crazy ass fans.

  7. mcf 02/20/2012 at 2:17 PM -

Rabid K-pop fans, while mostly harmless, can be a pretty scary bunch. I’m sure there are a few genuine psychos mixed in there who should be of real concern.

On a side note, I want to thank Nichkhun for so eloquently explaining geology to us. I thought it was plate tectonics that caused the Japan earthquake and tsunami. Nope – apparently the Earth just got tired of looking at those out-of-style buildings in Sendai and decided they should be replaced by something more contemporary.

    • hunny 02/20/2012 at 4:01 PM -

The sad part about this was that I recently saw a poll asking if people agreed with him or disagreed with him on what he said about Japan’s tsunami and what I saw was horrifying. The majority of people actually agreed what Nichkhun said was right. What the hell are these kids thinking implying that he’s the best for saying something so stupid. He’s lucky it was Japan he was talking about since Korea does hate the Japanese but if he said that about the Haiti earthquake, he would be in so much deeper shit.

      • NanaFTW 02/20/2012 at 7:44 PM -

Korea doesn’t care about Japan. Probably half the country was happy that Japan got hit by that tsunami. Sad but true.

We all know the history, but it’s just ignorance to be happy about the death of people.

Of course, they now rely on Japan to power their music industry, so it’s amusing to see K-pop sites run stories on Anti-Hallyu Wave in Japan, but they never ask why that happens, like 2PM’s Nichkhun talking shit.

  8. contagious 02/20/2012 at 4:40 PM -

This is so lame. Kpop fans and it’s artists are bunch of idiots who like to jump on the bandwagon as soon as a scandal breaks out. Even though I don’t agree with how Block B behaved themselves during that interview, I still like them. I’m sorry but I rather have them make mistakes and learn from it than act like robots and be fake. Seriously, most fans need to have their own opinion about issues rather than let their favorite oppa/unnie speak on their behalf.

Side note… Zico is one of the most talented artist/rapper right now in kpop. I think people should stop being followers and give this dude/group a chance.

    • mldgrater 02/20/2012 at 9:44 PM -

Amen! tell ‘em. just saw this post where these fans where like “I forgive them already” yeah… sure. This just reminds me of the incident with Mr. Jay Park. how exactly they got over that so fast is SHOCKER, but neurotic fans will be neurotic fans.
      *FREE BLOCK B*

  9. topheavyhookjaw 02/20/2012 at 5:52 PM -

I don’t see anything wrong with Khun criticizing Block B.

Khun had every right to call them out. Just because he has said something equally stupid in the past doesn’t make his tweets any less valid.

What Khun said about Japan was WRONG, period.
What they said was WRONG, period.

They don’t cancel each other out. Why is this so hard to understand?

Also, I find it EXTREMELY disturbing that BBCs are angrier at 2PM for tweeting the issue than they are at Block B for saying what they said. Part of being a fan is holding artists accountable for their actions. They fucked up, they’ve BEEN fucking up, and they should have apologized a month ago when the shit went down. THE END.

    • IATFB 02/20/2012 at 6:49 PM -

The problem is that Block B is being held accountable in a big way. Nichkhun never was.

Considering his past, he probably just should have kept his mouth shut like most other idols.

Why open your mouth? By doing so, it’s more than fair to criticize his motivations and his past. Keep his mouth shut and none of this happens and Block B continues to get vilified.

Let’s be real here, suicide petitions? Christ.

      • topheavyhookjaw 02/20/2012 at 7:34 PM -

Again, just because Khun has said problematic things in the past does not make his opinion on Block B any less valid. How many ties does this need to be repeated?

The only reason Block B apologized is because of Khun. If Khun had kept his mouth shut, hottests wouldn’t have gotten up in arms and Block B would have continued to ignore people who they’ve offended without any consequences.

2pm fans sending death threats, suicide petitions, etc. that’s too far BUT IT DOESN’T CHANGE THE FACT THAT WHAT BLOCK B SAID WAS SHITTY. Stop trying to make Block B the victims, they are absolutely NOT BLAMELESS in the situation. And they are not unjustly vilified.

If you want to adress an issue, address the whole thing.

        • IATFB 02/20/2012 at 9:20 PM -

None of the articles on this site exonerate Block B from anything. If anything, they are critical of their actions. However, in this specific article, which revolves around the reaction towards Block B from other idols, it’s more than fair to point out their bullshit as well.

          —–

          What are you talking about?

This was an issue before Nichkhun commented on it. The original breaking articles didn’t even cite a problem with Nichkhun, it was just that the video was making its rounds with the public. You realize his comments came after the news on this incident broke, right? Hence the conspiracy theorists were saying that the Korean government leaked it or whatever shit.

If Nichkhun kept his mouth shut then it would just be an issue of Block B embarrassing themselves and being shitted on by everybody. Instead, two parties interjected themselves and brought themselves into it.

It’s the whole keep my name out of your mouth and we can keep it the same. Else, it’s fair game.

          —–

Address the whole thing? Are you insane? There are three articles posted on this site on this controversy. The initial one is about their fuck up and their apology. The next revolved around U-KISS’s Dongho butting in along with Zico shaving his head. Then there’s this one, which points out Nichkhun is backtracking because it’s being pointed out that he’s being a hypocrite.

We did address the whole thing, it’s not our problem if you haven’t read them.

    • liley 02/20/2012 at 10:44 PM -

“Also, I find it EXTREMELY disturbing that BBCs are angrier at 2PM for tweeting the issue than they are at Block B for saying what they said”

Some BBCs were and Nickhun is a hypocritical douchebag.

      • Algee 02/21/2012 at 8:38 PM -

It’s because Nickhun didn’t shave his eyebrow yet for the stupid comment he made.

  10. baymon 02/20/2012 at 6:48 PM -

Actually what Nichkhun said about Japan is not so bad. He’s not being disrespectful to the Japanese victim, he’s just addressing the question on why there are so many earthquakes in the world. That there’s not something so strange about it. Insensitive, yes. But disrespectful, no.
Khun actually also tweeted about encouraging relief effort in Japan. I forgot what the exact tweet is about.
As to Block B’s comment and attitude is simply insensitive and disrespectful.

    • IATFB 02/20/2012 at 6:51 PM -

      Not so bad.

      Okay.

    • Algee 02/20/2012 at 9:43 PM -

Your bias is showing. You even mentioned you didn’t read the whole shit he wrote yet still defend him.

I think what Nichkhun and BB did both are disrespectful while their true intentions aren’t. Nickhun for encouragement and BB for entertainment. Both ended in a wrong way.

      • baymon 02/20/2012 at 11:51 PM -

When did I say I didn’t read his comment? I did read all his comments, I just don’t remember his exact words, but it’s enough for me to know that he was encouraging the relief efforts in Japan. But for your reading pleasure, I finally searched for that comment and found it here:
        http://popseoul.wordpress.com/2011/03/16/nichkhun-comments-on-relief-efforts-for-japan/

        • Algee 02/21/2012 at 8:32 PM -

Why bother encouraging something if you’re not smart enough to choose wise words to say.

Come one, comparing people lives with furniture? Even 5th grader can write better than that.

I’m not defending Block-B. I personally think their attitude (not the whole thai flood controversy because I’m wise enough to admit I don’t speak Korean and I can’t tell whether they did insult flood victims or it’s just a mistranslation issue) but they did behave like retarded teenagers in that interview.

    • CheesyChua 02/22/2012 at 2:16 AM -

We can tell you are a Khun fan. He was just as disrespectuful as Block B was with their comment.

  11. pominitslut 02/20/2012 at 6:56 PM -

Yes Block B fucked up big time.

But the point is, Khun is a public personality and a big one.. if he or the other 2pm members had a problem with Block B they should’ve contacted them in private instead of pulling off a Siwon and complaining in Twitter.

They are well aware that they have a big following and half of those fans are somewhat crazy, yet they still proceeded to say what they said. I understand he is upset because it’s his hometown but he is aware that Block B is a flop group with a bunch of immature kids in there.. he knew if he said something shit is gonna blow up. And shit blew out of proportions that’s why he’s trying to tone it down.

BBCs have been aware of that issue for a long time now because it’s one month old and believe me we were disappointed but in the world of kpop only the relevant things get published and Block B is nowhere near relevant in Korea thus no one reported it.

Now people are petitioning shit and sending death threats because of a mistranslated response towards Thailand.

  12. liley 02/20/2012 at 10:50 PM -

    Read this if you like
http://bit.ly/x3PfPy here’s the original for native Korean speakers http://cbci.co.kr/?p=87146

In the video that popped on Sunday block b did seem like assholes and the boys in their apologies didnt try to justify what they did or tell us that everything was said in context.

Their reactions to the public’s reaction has been admirable.

I can’t have the reason I still stan kpop fade into even more obscurity :’(

Did Nickhun just turn into a girl? Because he starts sound like one.

“A leader is wise, a leader is calm, and a leader is kind! Seems like there is still a long way to go! =]”

And I thought you want the whole fanwar to be over.

  14. kpammy 02/25/2012 at 1:24 AM -

I don’t understand why the writer and people on this side hate so much toward nichkhun. If you are educated and understand about Buddism, his tweeting about Japan earthquake is merely just want to encourage Japanese people, though his words of choices at that time are misunderstood by some people. I’m sure that he didn’t have bad intention and being hypocrite like some of you try to name him to be. Also, he is not forced to say sorry after that twitting incidence like the writer in the article said. He actually said sorry by himself. To be fair, I witness toward the whole twitting incident and I insist that he doesn’t mean to insult anyone and he said sorry by himself after that. So, please stop blaming and bashing nichkhun. The reason that he tweeted things related to block b group behavior during Thailand interview is he just want to defend his own country. He loves his country and never once he forgets where he comes from. I’m sure he has nothing against the block b boys. Please be fair to him. Nichkhun still holds my respect since I know he is a kind heart guy. And for Block B, please stay strong. Please make this whole incidence as an experience to grow up to be a respective idols and win people hearts through your music. Fighting nichkhun and stay strong block b.

    • IATFB 02/25/2012 at 5:45 AM -

      Fair enough.

You sound reasonable. Unfortunately many of your fellow fans are not.

      —–

I’m sure many people had a problem with Block B’s comments. However, not every idol made a deal out of it, especially in the vein of appearing self-righteous.

  15. connecttowin 03/06/2012 at 7:19 PM -

I’ve heard what Nichkhun said about Japan but I don’t know what he has said exactly. Now I see… and I can interpret the message that he know that it’s a bad news that there are many disaster in the world but please think in positive way so you will feel better…. but he can’t use the right word to say…and I think it’s not hypocrisy.
