One would think that if an idol group member was driven to so much emotional shock and pain that they were admitted to a hospital and diagnosed with stress induced mental trauma (reports say a minor type of schizophrenia), that even the most hardcore of netizens would back the fuck off.
Yeah … about that.
Is anyone actually surprised to hear that it’s exactly the opposite? Netizens have kicked their hatred up a notch after hearing about P.O.‘s diagnosis, and have teamed up with the media in claiming that Brand New Stardom and Block B fans are making up the death threats and suicide petitions being made about the group in order to gain sympathy.
Really?
Anyone that gives a shit about rookie groups could tell you that Brand New Stardom is the weakest and poorest company out of all of the boy group debuts (remember Cho PD almost taking out loans?). Additionally, they are the least experienced with marketing and the media.
Would they seriously admit the youngest member of the group into a hospital for psychiatric help as a media ploy? Doubtful. Even if they wanted to, there’s no way they are smart enough to pull it off effectively.

So just how bad are the netizen comments?
Well, you can see for yourself.
These are a few comments that have been compiled by fans and netizens to prove that there were indeed death threats being made, regardless of what the media is trying to sway the public to believe.
“For doing their interview like that, Block B and their fans should all just jump off a cliff.”
“Who cares about him shaving his head, they’re better off just killing themselves. No one will know when they die anyway because they’re such nobodies.”
“Every morning I check to see if Block B committed suicide. No news yet…”
“Go jump off the Han River. Nah… don’t do that, they’ll pollute the river then.”
“I’ll donate $6 to funeral services if the leader commits suicide.”
“Get your smelly asses out of my screen, you trash. I’ll stick a gas tank up your hole.”
“Let’s rip their bodies up and send it to Thailand as our apology.”
“If they’re really sorry, they shouldn’t show it by shaving their heads but by shaving their brains with a chain saw.”
Sorry conspiracy theorists, there’s no gimmicks or media manipulation there.

I think it’s safe to say that it’s not Block B that’s humiliating the nation, but rather the netizens, who are ironically doing it for them.
How many international fans even had a significant reaction to Block B’s interview? Yes, I can understand Thailand was upset, but the reaction otherwise doesn’t seem to be severe. Yet their continued apologies, brought on by the continued hate from the netizens, has gotten back to international fans, and it’s not going over well with most of them. It’s rare that netizens from other fandoms will come over and show sympathy for what’s going on, but that’s exactly what is happening, which should clue you in to the insanity of the situation.
What will it take for netizens to realize that they’re doing more damage to Korea than Block B did? I guess we’ll never know, especially since shit like this cycles over and over again each year, like with Tablo and Tajinyo.

Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
I pray every night for this madness to stop. People are really insane. I hope P.O pulls through this and becomes a stronger person. I hope they will all be alright. Enough is enough.
This witch hunt is pointless (just as well as 99% of Korean netizens’ reactions to anything) but I think some reports do seem to try to portray Block B as… pitiful, maybe? After the apologies, Brand New Stardom should’ve stopped their public activities and waited for this whole thing to die, IMO. All these reports about the mental state of the members are doing nothing for them in terms of changing the public opinion.
Yup.
They should know better than anybody how serious Korea takes their national pride.
Need a hiatus probably.
I give up. No matter what happens, this isn’t gonna stop. Not unless a Thai representative calls this witch hunt out and that is highly unlikely
If anything causes me to turn away from Kpop, it will be reactions like these from the netizen community, the affect (effect?) that it has, and the lack of effort put in to make them accountable. If these people (yes, that’s what they are. People with parents and co-workers that should know how hurtful they are able to be when they are allowed to remain faceless) were required to stand on a stage and say these things in front of a crowd, perhaps even filmed to be seen on a bigscreen on the streets, would they still be willing to say such vile things? They demand accountability for these boys’ actions, they should be publicly accountable for their words as well. I wonder what the reaction would be if everyone that signed the supposed suicide petition was required to stand in front of their parents AND the parents of the Block B members and say these things to their faces.

Wow, I gotta say you are better than allkpop site. many haters there I see lose their humanity already. I totally agree with you for the whole article
If you are talking about their forums/comments, I wouldn’t blame them for that.
Bigger Site = More Morons
can’t agree more. i normally being the one that sit and eat my popcorn during controversies. some fanwars are amusing, but this one is getting on my nerve. whoever block b is, yes, they made mistake and hey, they’ve apologized (seemed quite sincere to me) so why can’t we move on? i even saw a facebook page “we hate block b” with 4K likes, full of hate message. seems like they hate for the sake of hating itself i even doubt they’ll remember why they hate block b at the first place
A lot of Koreans appear to see it as a matter of national pride and embarrassment rather than just a K-pop group fuck up. So you have to understand that side as well.
Granted, no excuse for suicide wishes.
Which is so ironic b/c the things that actually do cause them embarrassment as a nation is the blackface shit that they do on TV all the time, and the other forms of racism (whether intentional or not intentional). On the outside, Block B’s incident is more like a young group of individuals acting dumb and making a huge mistake. But a bunch of older adult celebrities doing blackface and other shit they say gives the impression that Korea is a racist country, which I don’t strongly deny.
Well that’s what I worry about.
Certainly isn’t a positive for Korea.
oh, i forgot to mention. that facebook page is created by Thai netizens.

This so called “national pride” does involved, but in a wrong context…
It’s already been suggested that the comments were entirely out of context – you’d think that there’d be some backing off until at least this gets sorted out?
Geeze, there are much better things these people can get obsessed over. They didn’t make a racist remark, they didn’t physically harm anyone. They were some 20-something boys who were acting like, well, 20-something boys: unthinking and impulsive. Give them some space to repent…geeze…
Asking a group of young men to commit suicide?
Nation pride? Please! talking about psychiatric problems
I see this as a scapegoat for the netizens, as well as others, to project all their hatred on instead of focusing on REAL enemies.
This type of anger and hate, gets people NOWHERE.
.
…Seriously netizens from all over the Kpop fandom made this bigger than what it was and I get bothered when some still try to blame 2PM for it. Sorry, they shouldn’t be responsible for how masses of people in a fandom react and getting all emotional. 2PM isn’t responsible for people making petitions for suicide.
It’s those times when people just need to shut up and butt outta stuff because fans/netizens make things worse than what they were…
S.Korea netizens are doing more harm to there country then any idol ever has. As a international fan of Kpop and Korean music in general. This makes me see S.Korea as an ignorant, spineless dumbass country. What other country lets netizens run them to the point of suicide? Yes I do enjoy the entertainment industry but in no why do I idolize or in fashion enjoy watching how ignorant to country can be.
From the racial behavior to there crazy netizens. I say keep that shit over in S.Korea and let’s not pollute any other country with such ignorance. I can completely understand why there suicide rate is so high. No, I do not agree with suicide being an option. But I do understand why people feel that is there only option there. Who in the hell want’s to live where you are told on a daily basis. That your life only amounts to what we say. You can be no more then what we faceless netizens allow. You can only achieve what we allow you to. If we say die then you should die. If we say your career is over then it is over. I blame the Korean judicial and government system for allowing netizens to have so much power. It’s like being the chief of police but your child is a serial killer and you know but do nothing to stop that child.
Wake up S.Korea the world is watching and you are letting your country make a fool out of you.
Technically speaking, America is worse than Korea in that aspect.
We have no regulation of free speech, which is how I like it.
The issue is dealing with suicide itself.
Oh, this has gotten out of hands. I really really feel for Block B. This isn’t going to get real easy for them anytime soon either. This is gonna haunt them for the next year or so, might be even their whole career. Netizens won’t let go of it, they’ll just keep on reminding them and the rest of the Kpop world on what they did. That’s how vicious they are. And it’s sickening.
International fans shouldn’t get into the mess either tbh. Everyone should just shut up and move on with our lives. Sure, Block B did something stupid, but forgive and forget. Didn’t they do it with the Nickhun(spelling?) incident? Why can’t they do it with this one?…Oh wait cause they aren’t the oh-so-charming(tool) Nickhun :
I support Block B 100% and feel horrible about what was said to them, but i laughed my head off at “shave their brains with a chainsaw”
K-netizens…Why you such maniacs?
