Co-Ed‘s male sub-unit, SPEED, has debuted with one of the most absurd singles to date.

Promoted as a “hommage” to T-ara‘s “Lovey Dovey“, SPEED has recently added to Core Contents Media‘s back catalogue with their debut single, “Lovey Dovey Plus” – a basic carbon copy of a basic carbon copy – and will proceed to promote it along side T-ara, who’s busy mind-fucking everybody with their own original version of the song.

Before I got any further, it goes without saying that T-ara has grown to be one of today’s most commercially successful girl groups in K-pop. Core Contents Media has focusing T-ara’s music on redundancy above all else, and while that comes with its own negative connotation, it’s been economically beneficial as a pop music strategy because everybody knows that catchy, mindless music sells like crazy, and at the end of the day, that’s all that fucking matters.

To further expand on that business model, Core Contents Media has also made a tradition of duplicating successful singles (TTL, TTL2, TTL3, Roly Poly, Lovey Dovey, etc.), and this week they’re really shooting the shit by tossing a remake to SPEED, who is so low on the priority list that they didn’t even deserve a proper debut single for themselves.

—–

As a pop song, I really don’t know what to say about this. There is nothing remotely interesting happening in “Lovey Dovey Plus”. It’s so unoriginal and derivative that anybody with access to any audio software could have easily pitch shifted T-ara’s “Lovey Dovey” down a few notches and they would have come up with the same thing. “Plus” isn’t even experimental, which I thought it would be coming from Core Contents Media, but it’s actually just a dull karaoke version of “Lovey Dovey”.

The worst thing is that SPEED isn’t proving much of anything with this number, and they’re lucky sons of bitches that they had a decent template to work with because it would have been the saddest thing to see them face plant in their own turds like their fuck buddies (5Dolls) did around this time last year.

The song’s not great but I found myself lovig the MV,which made me like the song. In terms of music kpop usually doesn’t try especially the bigger companies. They release shit and they can bank on the batshit fans. I really like T-ara though,’Roly Poly’ was one of my favs from girl groups last year.

What you talking ’bout, Willis? The MV was a crazy ass mess. Epileptic seizure shit.

So how many weeks will there be a double performance of Lovey-Dovey anyway?
Has T-ara acheived national girl group status yet? It seems like CCM is hell bent on gettting there. They just seem unstable for some reason when comparing them to WG and SNSD.

      Certainly getting close.

      I’d hope not.

Naw it’s just a regular single since the boys wanted to do it. In march they’re suppose to release their first mini.

They’re still “debuting” with it, though. So might as well…

This song just pissed me off. They really dont seem to give a crap about the boys in CCM. This is like sloppy seconds.

      Sloppy = CCM

I would like to kill the person who edited that MV. Oh and there wasn’t any TTL3, it was a Supernova’s “JP~Reborn” fans mistook as TTL’s Jap version.. but there still was a TTL Jap ver so I guess that counts too.

CCM is a lazy company who milks hit songs for all its worth. Kinda like every company but worse. Anyways I still prefer this to the lazyass remix that is Roly Poly Copacabana & the other “remixes” they put in the John Travolta Wannabe album just because I get to see that the Coed boys are still very alive.

I believe Hyomin was heavily involved in the editing for the MV.

        Correct. :o

Yeah I just read that and I still think I want to kill her.

T-ara’s had so many songs on various minis that have sounded like TTL, that I think I’m at an unofficial TTL Version 6.0.

That Davichi duet was a total TTL spawn.

      • IATFB 02/15/2012 at 8:46 PM -

        Which? :o

      • pominitslut 02/16/2012 at 12:47 AM -

Ma Boo’s intro is so much like TTL 2 maybe that’s why I love that song so much. And now that I think about it the melody to We Were In Love really sounds like TTL idk maybe it’s just Soyeon that makes it sound familiar

And lulz, credit Hyomin for the editing. Girl done trolled errbody.

This music video is awesome compared to the second version, with that nipple girl.
Poor them (Speed) their label couldn’t even afford to get them professional editors and instead asked Hyomin do it. Hehehe.
