Rumors were spreading that “We Got Married” was being cancelled by MBC due to the labor dispute, and fans weren’t taking it so well.
On April 10th, ‘We Got Married’ wrote on their official homepage, “The program will be cancelled on Saturday April 14th, due to the ‘Music & Lyrics‘ broadcast.”
As soon as netizens read the update, rumors began to spread regarding the cancellation of ‘We Got Married’, and viewers began to voice their opinions, stating that they could not understand why the program would be coming to an end.
“We are willing to wait, watching the ‘special’ re-runs, but what do you mean cancellation?”, as well as, “What are the reasons for this cancellation? Please take it back!”, and more, trying to prevent the show from being taken off the air.
‘We Got Married’ has aired a few re-runs in February due to the labor strike, and aired a few new episodes in March, but the show once again became pre-empted starting on April 7th.
Predictably, people were already flipping out and saying inane shit, like, “It’s okay, you guys can still date off camera!”
Sigh.
Luckily for them, it looks like bullshit.
Even though there is a rumor saying MBC’s We Got Married will stop airing, the production crew for the show is currently considering adding a new couple.
On April 12, a spokesperson for the show said, “The rumor is not true. We are actually discussing the addition of a new couple to the show to make it more enjoyable.”
The rumor came out when cable channel MBC Music’s Music and Lyrics was planned to air on April 14 instead of We Got Married due to the MBC strike.
Producer Kim Joon Hyun for the show said, “We are thinking about airing the show again when the strike is over. We haven’t heard anything from the company about stopping the show.”
I wish they would do a couple that would be insanely unpopular just for the sheer troll bait.

For laughs they should put Sangchu from Mighty Mouth with Yoona. Or Miryo with Onew. Serious couples would be Siwon and Bom, Hyorin and Taecyeon, and Eunjung and Seulong. I would watch the crap out of it.
If they trying to make this like a reality and it seem they were really engaged, make them do shit that real engaged people would do. Like fucking, arguing, infidelity during Bachelor/Bachelorette parties, or something.

They need to do something unexpected, like a male foreigner and a popular actress, or idol even.
I agree that would be really interesting but considering it’s a Korean show the foreigner would have to be fluent (I doubt audiences would like subtitles), and it would also probably have to be a famous foreign male actor (American?) or people won’t be interested… And if he does something atrocious due to cultural differences or ignorance then it won’t help the already biased view Koreans have toward foreigners.
Although I DO would like to see more acceptance of foreign couples in Kpop culture. The Khuntoria thing was an “international” couple but they were both foreign so in a way they were “sectioned off” on the side in their foreign-ness, if that makes sense. It would be more interesting for a mixed Korean-foreign couple.

Overall though I despise reality shows featuring couples. Maybe it’s just me but I find it inappropriate to show off your private life in that way (arguing, sex, cheating, whatever), even if it’s totally real. Feels too “Real Housewives” or those bachelor competition shows. On the other end of the spectrum the fakey-lovey-dovey crap that WGM couples pull is so boring and obviously staged. I’ll take neither side, thank you.
They can go ahead and cancel it. The show went down hill fast now anyways.
