Yoo Ah In doesn’t think Lady Gaga should be restricted and neither does Lady Gaga

Minors were recently banned from attending Lady Gaga‘s concert in Seoul for questionable reasons and Yoo Ah In wasn’t having any of that shit.

On April 2, Yoo Ah In posted on twitter, “Is there a convincing evidence of Lady Gaga’s concert being hazardous and inappropriate for teens? What is this? Some 80s style sex education based on the idea that the youth doesn’t need to know?”

Netizens commented, “Yoo Ah In is so brave for saying that,” “It is true that the ratings standards seem to be ambiguous,” “I already bought my tickets, but now have to sell it. This is upsetting,” and “I agree with you.”

Didn’t have an opinion on him before, but he’s cool in my book after this.

Not necessarily because he agrees with my point of view, but more because he says what he thinks.

On a related note, Lady Gaga herself briefly addressed the situation on Twitter.

Thanku to all the adults in Korea who are speaking out for underaged who want to come to the BTW Ball. Maybe the gov. will change their mind

Although not affecting ticketsales in Seoul, parents should be given more credit to determine whats good for their children. I love my fans

If enough people in Korea actually do protest the decision, I think they’ll eventually relent.

Here’s hoping.

  1. Yeah hoping too. Teens ain’t stupid and idol groups are ALL sexualized… Lady Gaga just ain’t acting like she’s not unlike other groups. I’m sure many of those teens ain’t virgins anyway

  2. Like what she’s going to do that Korea haven’t seen before? Fuckin’ sacrificing a goat and drink its blood? For a 1st world nation, they still got some catching up to do from all these religious oppression and ethnic insensitivity been going on lately. Idk how many times she pissed the religious people off here in the US and other places, and the bitch still going and selling…..worldwide. Her hype simmering though. The cunt ain’t released a single nor album yet. WTF? Her touring right now is no excuse either >:
Oh yeah, China also did ban her and Katy Perry a while back. Not a surprise though.

  3. she actually brings up a good point, wouldn’t the parents know whats best for their kids? does MOGEF not trust the parents to make the best decision about what concerts their kids shouldn’t go to? i feel bad for the kids who already bought their tickets, they could’ve at least announced their decision before the tickets went on sale

  4. Glad somebody has the balls to speak out about it.

  5. Unfortunately, Korea’s Mormon-like attitude about stuff like this is hindering the success of some of their own homegrown talent.

I only recently discovered this talented Korean female rapper:

According to the Wikipedia entry, basically everything she’s done has been banned.

  6. Glad that he spoke out on it. Although I don’t know if Korea’s sex education has improved much since the 80′s.

  7. These politicians realize that teenage prostitution (in effect) is common in their country, right?

Somehow I’m thinking that watching Lady Gaga prance around isn’t going to collapse society.
