Go Young Wook, a former member of the group Roo’ra, has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor, according to police.
Singer and former Roo’ra member Go Young Wook (37) is currently being investigated by the police under suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor (In Korea 19 is the age of consent).
Seoul Yongsan Police Station revealed on May 8th that female ‘A’ (18) had previously guest-featured on a television program. Allegedly, after seeing her on television, Go Young Wook then called the head producer of the program and obtained her contact information, and is now under investigation under suspicions of sexually assaulting her.
Female ‘A’ who claims to have been sexually assaulted by Go Young Wook has taken legal action against him, and a representative from the police station remarked, “The investigation is still ongoing, and whether or not this is true will be determined after additional investigation takes place.”
He has admitted to having sexual relations with her.
A representative from Seoul Yongsan Police Station informed Newsen on May 9th, “Victim ‘A’ has no intention of settling and wants to see him receive punishment.”
The rep continued, “As ‘A’ is a minor, if the sexual assault accusations are proven to be true, whether a settlement is reached or not, [Go Young Wook] will receive punishment. This is not a crime in which a formal complaint from the victim is required. The victim has stated that she revealed her age to Go Young Wook. Go Young Wook has also admitted to having sexual relations with the victim, so if the sexual assault accusations turn out to be true, he will not be able to avoid the due punishment.”
Details on how the sexual assault allegedly went down have come out, as well.
He then made contact, promising the young girl that he’d help her get started in the entertainment industry.
When they met up in person, Ko said to the girl, “People will recognize me, let’s go somewhere we can talk,” before taking her back to his studio in Yongsan.
At Ko’s residence, Ko prompted the teenager to drink various alcohol before raping her. Then few days later the two met up again and Ko asked the girl to become his “lover,” and pressured her to have sex with him again.
However, he has denied that he sexually assaulted her, and has come out against details released by the police.
Go Young Wook and his representatives have denied recent reports of alleged Kakao Talk message conversations between him and the alleged sexual assault victim as well as reports by the police.
Recently, reports surfaced discussing Kakao Talk smartphone app messages between Go Young Wook and the alleged victim in which Go Young Wook tells the girl, “let’s date,” just to invite her out when he did not actually intend to date her.
However, Go Young Wook has denied sending the messages, stating, “The Kakao messages that were revealed are not true. ‘A’ was the one to first say, ‘Let’s go somewhere quiet.’”
By responding to the Kakao Talk message articles, Go Young Wook’s side has gone against what the police have stated as he is saying that the alleged victim was the one who invited him out rather than the other way around. On his official homepage, Go Young Wook wrote, “Even though I know better than anyone else what happened between me and the accuser, I cannot prove every detail to all of you. I will cooperate with the investigations to the best of my ability, and will explain everything I know about the relationship between me and the accuser.”
I should stress that he has not been convicted of anything yet, so don’t jump to conclusions.
I will say though, suddenly MBLAQ‘s Lee Joon‘s stories on SBS‘s “Strong Heart” about Go Young Wook stealing his girlfriends aren’t so funny.

Well I don’t have much of an opinion on the matter… will just see how this plays out. But people should also know girls can play the victim card and use things to their advantage when they don’t get what they want… not saying it’s exactly what happened here, but those things happen and is a possible scenario.
