Korean Men’s Association, the same one who flipped out about “You’re My Pet” (must have been a double whammy for them: it originated from Japan and was about a male pet), recently petitioned against Baek Ji Young‘s “Good Boy“, saying it degrades men.
The Korean Men’s Association claim that Baek Ji Young’s “Good Boy” has a theme of an older woman dominating a younger man and it is degrading because it makes it seem like a relationship between a dog and its owner. They requested for a ban of circulation.
Surely this has to be a troll organization, right?
They have a problem with the lyrics of a song talking about an older woman using a younger man, but where’s this outcry in reality for the vice versa situation?
They continued to say, “The song expressed a man going against a woman’s wishes as ‘barking about,’ or ‘biting his owner.’ The music video actually has dogs in it, as if it is trying to tell the audience that men should be tamed and trained like dogs.”
Well, to be fair, that sounds like TEEN TOP‘s Chunji‘s ideal relationship.
Part of the lyrics from “Good Boy” entail, “Aren’t you past puberty? This is so immature. Stop barking about / You’re like a piece of ice under my feet, I’m getting tired of this now / Huh… I treat you well and this is how you repay your master?”
Regarding this, the Korean Men’s Association stated, “Men might have that fantasy of dating older women but normal, healthy men will definitely feel serious discomfort at this song.”
Good grief.
You know, in a vacuum, I don’t have a problem with groups like this for the same reason I don’t have a problem with rights organizations for white people in America. Hypothetically, the point of these groups is supposed to be about protecting people against injustice, much like what unions are supposed to do for workers.
Unfortunately, the stark reality is that most of the groups like these that represent the power structure (male in Korea, white in America, whatever it is) end up coming off like elitists and supremacists more than anything else. While the goal is supposed to be protecting people against injustice, these groups ironically seem to end up advocating injustice against all other groups except them instead.
That’s their twisted version of protecting themselves and I don’t think it needs to be stated how ridiculous and pathetic it makes them appear.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
As a cougar in training, I loved the song.
You forgot the best part (from the AKP article):
“Even during a time where men ruled the world, men never treated women like dogs.”
Ho ho ho.
Yeah it was more like treated like mules. People tend to be pretty loyal to their dogs but a mule runs it’s course and it’s out to pasture for you.
Yeah, they have groups like this in the US. as it always brings to mind some angry, fat, balding middle-aged Republican who loathes women, racial minorities and gays alike.
I sort of imagine a guy who would be in an organization like this to be a fat, balding or bald, ugly guy. lol
yo, does the reddit “men’s rights activists in fedoras” have a south korean chapter bc this is lol forever.
shock!!!this is how women should be in the society-powerful and in control!my feminist side of me says this is what women should be..but..but..why am i attracted to guys that exude power and angstiness?like, having a hard abs, taller, higher social class standing?one-time, when me and my nearly bf then is chatting after our date,he mentioned that he firmly doesn’t want me to hang out with my gay friends because they looks like bad influence for me.i should have been annoyed right?but,no..i felt he is so angsty and full of machismo and i am succumb to his powerful greatness. i know it wasn’t right to feel that way bec. i have rights too and men shouldn’t have that control.so i went into hiding after that. so,,do i feel like this because the society have brainwashed me into thinking that men is in the superior status or what?i am a believer of what baek ji young is promoting…
The fuck, you should have slapped that boy. First, he shouldn’t be telling you who you should or shouldn’t hang out with. Secondly, being around gays doesn’t necessarily influence you in a different way than hanging out with other people, unless it makes you more accepting of differences, which is a good thing anyway.
It sounds like you just like this dude. A bit too much from the sound of it.
you are right gays are so fun to be with..you can talk about anything with them..and it feel more secure to be with them than girls when going home late.not sure if having a violent personality will help me in expressing my thoughts though,,i don’t think i can win a boxing fight..but i know how to use a gun.
No, you’re stupid and a pretty horny girl that’s a masochist. I’m not even joking either.
excuse me?I’m not..not horny okay!I just like to use exaggerated words like angsty and all okay!!!!that is a wholesome comment!and I am not joking either!how did I came off as a horny here?and a masochist?didn’t i say,i never contacted him after i realized something? And how did I came off as a horny girl in my comment????
“why am i attracted to guys that exude power and angstiness?” and “i felt he is so angsty and full of machismo and i am succumb to his powerful greatness”. Fine you aren’t a horny masochist, you’re a crazy horny masochist.
oh my god, i just wrote it in a melodramatic way!!!!!to put it simple:
1)why am i attracted to guys that exude power and angstiness?
-i like guys who looks like they were able in life okay.
2)i felt he is so angsty and full of machismo and i am succumb to his powerful greatness
-i think he’s cool.
cronodroid understand it,you don’t?
and excuse you for giving off unsolicited INSULT to me?why did you comment about it,if you don’t understand it?are you just want to directly insult me?
@hunny-you know if someone insult or hurt others even the other one didn’t do anything to that person and he just annoyed or he just feel like doing that,-that is considered BULLYING! more so if you are a guy and you are bullying a girl.I want to describe you in a word too but I know you are also a person in this screen..
“melodramatic way”. You are a drama queen. I know you’re a nice person and you don’t want to hurt my feelings but I am just pointing out faults so maybe you might want to adjust that. It’s okay if you want to trash talk me, criticism never hurts in fact it makes a person better.
ok.i understand
okay,,i said i’ll understand bec.i don’t want to be in bad terms to anyone but,i really don’t get why did i come off as a horny masochist!i read my comments again and i really don’t think it gave off an impression like that,,,WHY???WHY???will you just explain why cause it really bothers me?
Not stupid, it’s more of a instant draw to him because he leads and is sorta playing the protector in that scenario. But the way he does it will get old quickly, then there’s not much else left there. You need to find a guy who will let you be independent, and will respect you. There are some women who would rather stay home and be a housewife and be a supporter to their partner, and that’s fine. Just make sure you don’t lose sight of who you are as an individual. And make sure he respects that.
This is basically a LOL and keep it moving moment.
#1 reason I hate unions basically. I see the use when there’s actual mistreatment. But past that, it’s basically to get whatever they want under the guise of “protecting people against injustice”, like you said. “Who gives a crap about anybody else, as long as we’re happy.”
Unions have done many extremely important things for worker’s rights.
Of course, there is always a negative aspect, and unions have also made it increasingly difficult to fire incompetent people in a variety of fields, and occasionally have unfair and arbitrary rules.
But their existence in the US has been critical for labor rights, they helped lower the length of working week, helped get health insurance included into many jobs, helped end child labor and promoted fair wages. The fact that they exist today makes sure businesses just can’t revoke these rights arbitrarily.
Besides, unions are almost non-existent in the US now anyway, the government has done a very good job of diminishing their role. Income inequality has also increased dramatically in the mean time. Correlation or causation?

http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu/laborctr/child_labor/about/us_history.html
Yeah they have, back when workers were being abused, and they’ve instilled laws that protect the rights of workers. They’re not needed anymore.
Basically now they’re trying to get the most amount of money for the least amount of work, and almost every law they’ve made is useless. Unions are basically the reason why the American Automotive industry was in the crapper.
Yes they were critical, but now they’ve made it so that people don’t even have to do their job right, taken away the choice for people to choose their own healthcare, and the last two you stated (Child Labor and Fair Wages) were done back in the 1910′s-1920′s, and even that was largely due to books and other media. The fact that they exist today is unnecessary since the government has laws for that. Their existence instead takes money from the payroll of workers without their consent and makes it impossible to fire people, no matter how bad they do their job.
Unions are more rampant then ever, actually, and the government has actually pretty much succumbed to doing whatever Unions want, mostly for the fact just that a Unions tend to scream louder than others. It’s essentially the minority representing the majority because they scream louder, and politicians listen to them because they want to get reelected. Income ‘inequality’ (the way I read it is they weren’t paid as much as before) has also increased dramatically in the meantime because when they were paid more, they were told that they couldn’t be fired no matter what, so people didn’t do their jobs. Pay decreased dramatically because employers started realizing what was happening. So in the correlation or causation, I say Unions actually caused the dramatic drop.

What essentially saved Chrysler, after they spent years putting out crappy cars because their workers knew they couldn’t get fired no matter how badly they did their jobs.

http://bizgengirl.hubpages.com/hub/Is-Ron-Paul-Against-Unions
I’m not entirely against Unions, I see their purpose in some situations, but they’ve become completely different from what they were intended to be. If federal government didn’t get involved with labor unions, most of the problems with unions would be solved. There are other major problems, but if you read either of the links related to Ron Paul, you’ll understand all the other problems as well.
They are categorically not more rampant than ever.
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.nr0.htm
Membership in the private sector is under 7%.
I cannot take you seriously if you are citing Ron Paul here. Unions were NOT the cause of income inequality, not at all, and there is ample literature on this. The tax cuts of the Reagan and Bush II era dramatically increased corporate profits while employee wages has remained static.
If Unions didn’t exist, there would be very little to stop businesses from finding some other new way of screwing workers out of just compensation. They do this, they are a profit making entity. Now I agree that unions do conduct affairs in less than savory ways ON OCCASION, but to say they’re not needed is just foolish. They protect worker’s rights, simple as that. Also, Union dues are actually extremely reasonable for the most part if you look it up, plus Unionized workers tend to earn more to offset most of the cost.
The fact that you claim that employers cut wages because they perceived Unionized workers as lazy is bullshit. Also, unions are factually not why the American automotive industry experienced a downturn. That was a combination of rising oil prices and a major credit crunch, leading consumers to stop purchasing big, wasteful American cars. Why do you think Hyundai experienced growth during this period while Ford, GM and Chrysler almost bottomed out? The fact that they have recovered and become stronger now is more to do with the fact that they’re telling efficient, more economical cars.
Ron Paul is a man who believes the rights of businesses outweigh those of the worker. He thinks we should abolish the Fed, when pretty much all economic literature on the subject would make that a terrible idea. He is supported by clueless college students who are almost all educated in the PUBLIC school system, something he wants to abolish. His domestic policies are abject garbage, Libertarianism (or his even worse brand of Ron Paul Libertarianism) only favors the established elite.
So if you’re from a high income household making over 600 grand a year, or own a large business, then I could see why you would hate unions and support Ron Paul. Are you actually any of these? To support Ron Paul otherwise would be disingenuous at best, and idiotic at worst.
“Membership in the private sector is under 7%” Well that’s because less people have jobs in the private sector. And most in the private sector don’t want to be in a union because it takes away from their paychecks.
Ever cite you can make is going to have bias. Even your government regulated site. The tax cuts were actually good for the economy, both Reagan and Bush. Employee wages have dropped since the eighties or so because 1) There’s been competition from overseas 2) the reason I stated before.
Not saying they shouldn’t exist, but the way they are now I don’t see any use for them. They themselves have pushed for multiple laws protecting workers, to the point that it’s almost impossible to fire somebody. Conducting things in a less savory way is what they do 99% of the time, if they refocus and stop getting entangled with the federal government, then they’re useful. They basically at this point are trying to make it impossible for anyone to be fired. ‘Extremely reasonable’, it’s still the fact that hard-earned money is being taken out of their pay for something they might not even support. Unionized workers don’t earn more, don’t understand where you got that idea.
Workers did become lazy, it’s a fact. Back in the eighties you had to get out your calendar and check when that car was made. If it was made on a Monday or a Friday, it was crap because on Mondays most of the workers were having hangovers, and on Friday workers were just wanting to get the heck out of there and drink. The automotive industry turned down because American cars were crap and foreign competition came in. Big wasteful cars? Yeah, no. May be part of the problem, but it was mostly American cars were crap due to the fact workers were so lazy about them. Hyundai experienced growth because their cars were quality cars, they worked and American cars again were crap. The exception was the K-car, which was made by a worker who was tired of all the crap cars Americans were given and decided to make a car that worked right. The fact that they have recovered and become stronger now is because workers are now realizing that there are about 10 chinese factory workers ready to take their place, so they better improve their game.
The rights of businesses and workers is a delicate balance, he says that the government needs to step away from businesses for the most part. He doesn’t say abolish the Fed, but it should be less involved. American government was built on the idea of a minimal Federal government, and Thomas Jefferson, one of the most intelligent humans ever to have been on this planet, supported the idea himself. He is supported by more people than that, including me, and a whole bunch of other people who are certainly not clueless or college kids. He doesn’t want to abolish public school, I don’t know where you would even get that. His domestic policies of have worked very well for America, and Libertarianism is about self-responsibility, being logical.
I’m actually not any of those things, and I still support him, because he makes logical sense, unlike every other candidate.
True, but the owners do that as well and are usually worse, at least historically, hence unions.
Yeah. And thats what they were originally like, and I’m supportive of unions who are still like that. But unfortunately, most are not like that now. Teachers Unions being a prime example. Try getting a bad teacher fired, and it ends up costing you more than if you just kept them. TSA, another good example of what unions are like now.
Give them Viagra and hard candy. That would keep them busy from making up bullshit. Just a bunch of bored old farts got nothing else to do.
If this was about a man having a women as a pet I’d bet they wouldn’t be complaining then. These men only have a problem with this because they can’t (don’t want) to accept a woman being anything other than a bitch housewive. Buy I guess you can’t blame these guys due to the fact they live in a patriarch society.
The MV wasn’t even that bad lol. I was expecting something like Rihanna’s S&M leading a guy on a leash.
Although I do agree that a Korean Rihanna would be what SK needs to be honest!
This could have been an epic MV
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ikm24iSJ1qeci4go1_500.jpg
Hahaha. Fuck.
What a silly request. We’ve all seen video evidence of how much she loves men
LOL silly you
It would be funny since Junhyung is the featured “Younger Man” on the MV.
You should ask him. He “partially” helped writing the song.
The producer of the Song is a man, the Rapper is a man. Why aren’t they reacting to this?
Because Korean men and native Asian guys in general like to blame all their problems on their women.
It’s actually because nobody cares about KMA.
The fact that there is a Korean Men’s Association is hilarious. What exactly do they do at meetings?
Probably jack each other off in a circle.
‘Unfortunately, the stark reality is that most of the groups like these that represent the power structure (male in Korea, white in America, whatever it is) end up coming off like elitists and supremacists more than anything else.’
Amen!
I couldnt even believe it when i heard about this,
keeping patriarchy alive in Korea. Seriously need to find Korean feminists, this shit cant be happening! Why are they so silent?
Doubt there’s much incentive to do so.
Somebody tell those punks to man up
