So there’s this new girl group called She’z, and their company’s marketing tactic is apparently bragging about how many people they know.
Great.
New girl group She’z is drawing attention with powerful showbiz entertainment industry connections even before their official debut. She’z consists of four members Lee Jin Ah, Lee Tae Yeon, Kim Se Yeon, and Kim Ji Young, who all majored in vocal performance at renowned performing arts institutions. They are to release their debut single “As I Please” in May.
She’z has become closely acquainted with numerous MCs and comedians through their agency Line Entertainment. Line Entertainment is the biggest MC agency in Korea and they do management and administrations of entertainers like Ji Suk Jin, Yoon Hyung Bin, Kim Young Chul, Moon Hee Jun and so on. She’z is Line Entertainment’s first big project in album producing as the company has recently expanded their business spectrum.
How is this a good idea? What’s the appeal to disclosing this?

Look, I love Asian Junkie and the satire you guys put up on the site, but using the word “tranny” in this article isn’t cool. The word’s very derogatory to transgender people, and seeing it nonchalantly and ignorantly waved around here in the article’s title and the comments is kind of offensive, regardless if the girl is transgender or not.
Also, Harisu was the first transgender k-pop star. If you’re going to use offensive humour, at least get your facts straight.

I ask because the post obviously isn’t serious discourse and there’s nothing explicitly vicious or mean in the word usage, at least anything above and beyond what’s normal, and you seem to know what the site is. I mean, the other girl is called a soulless demon, so … yeah.

Yes, I missed Harisu, but this wasn’t exactly a research article.
I understand that it was used in a humourous way, and I do understand that it was not used in vain. However, the usage of the word could be comparable to calling, let’s say that recent picture of Jo Kwon, “a picture of a fag.”
Don’t get me wrong, like I said I love the humour on this site and come to this site expecting excellent satire of the asian media scene. It was just the use of the word being used so ignorantly bothered me.
I read the article and while yes, it is just a word, and I have even seen/heard trans* people refer to themselves with the word a la the taking back of the n-word, but there are many people who still hear that word and are hurt. In comparison, one of my closest friends is gay and proudly calls himself a fag, but myself and many of my other queer friends still dislike the term.
I guess what I’m trying to say was that the wrong word was used, not that a word shouldn’t have been used at all. :)
(also I do realize it wasn’t a research article. The comment about Harisu was more to make a point. Please don’t take it in bad taste. :))

They have their own talk shows, they’re singers, business owners, idols, all of that. I grew up around and having a lot of gay friends and we kid around like that. Nothing personal.
