Zhang Ziyi Allegedly Prostituted Herself To Politician Bo Xilai & Other Powerful Figures

“Wait, what is Chinese entertainment news doing on Asian Junkie? I thought you only focused on Japanese and Korean entertainment?”

Yes, yes, I know. However, due to the similarities of the entertainment industries of China, Japan, and Korea, I thought this story was highly relevant.

If you haven’t heard yet, Zhang Ziyi is accused of selling her body for millions of dollars, and the most famous of her alleged clients is politician Bo Xilai.

Bo Xilai, the former party secretary of Chongqing, China, and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi are mired in a scandal after a news report said Zhang allegedly provided sexual services for Bo in exchange for money.

U.S.-based Chinese-language news Website Boxun was quoted by news reports as saying that Bo’s associate Xu Ming, founder and chairman of Dalian Shide Group, arranged secretive meetings for the two more than 10 times from 2007-2011.

The report said Zhang was paid about 46 million Taiwanese dollars ($1.55 million) per deal.

The meetings all occurred in Beijing, the report said.

The report also said that Xu not only introduced Zhang to two other “high-ranking Chinese government officials” for similar sexual services but had a secret relationship with the actress himself.

The actress is reportedly under investigation by Chinese authorities and is barred from leaving China.

The Website in April reported that Xu introduced more than 100 women to Bo for sex and the women included household-name celebrities.

It doesn’t end there though, as it’s alleged that she did this with various powerful figures.

The Chinese media also estimated that Zhang’s sexual transactions with various rich and powerful figures have netted her 700 million yuan over the last 10 years. This includes 180 million yuan in cash from Xu.

For her part, she of course denied it (cryptically), which is about the only thing she can do.

The actress, who is filming in Guangzhou, posted a comment on her microblog that was ostensibly about the “fraudulent” rain on the film set, along with a photo of a colleague on a ladder sprinkling “rain” – actually water from a hose – on the actors.

She wrote in Chinese that while it was a challenge to “defraud heaven”, it was nothing compared to thinking there is rain after “hearing the wind”, as that requires only one’s imagination, reported my paper.

A gigantic scandal to put it lightly.

Why is it relevant?

Because we’ve recently been hearing about these types of stories leaking out of the Japanese and Korean entertainment worlds lately, but this is easily the highest profile case to hit the news out of Asia. Point being, while the leaked scandals from Japan and Korea have generally involved low profile celebrities to this point, I highly doubt the rich and/or famous actresses are immune to things like this. In fact, I think they’re far more likely to fall into the trap, because the demand for them is astronomical.

Should be interesting to see how this investigation shakes out, because the allegations are damning.

As an aside, why would you pay one and a half million dollars to have sex with Zhang Ziyi? She ain’t even that hot, come on.

Maybe she can suck a golf ball through a garden hose or something, I dunno, but aesthetically? Meh.
