Apparently MBC thinks Egyptians are the same as Native Americans

So SISTAR‘s Hyorin was a guest on MBC‘s “Radio Star“, where they said she looked like a Native American chief’s daughter.

On the June 13 episode of MBC’s “Radio Star” Bada and SISTAR’s Hyorin appeared as guests. While the MCs were explaining the connection between the guests, they went ahead and stated that Bada had once said that Hyorin looks like a Native American chief’s daughter.

That’s great and all, but the example they used is Patricia Velásquez from “The Mummy“, and I’m pretty goddamn sure they were Egyptian.

Fail.

  1. MBC is just on a roll this year with this racial/ethnic ignorance.

  2. Taking bets on how many more times MBC shoots itself in the leg this year. They might as well rename the channel the KKK: Korean Kommunications Khannel.

  3. Reminds me when people commenting about how insensitive MC Mong’s “Indian Boy” was. Saying that he depicts Native Americans as savages that live in Africa or something.

  4. Another Account

I still fucking love that movie.

  5. They were like “both tan w/e”

  6. And apparently the producers of The Mummy think Venezuelans are the same as Egyptians.

  7. I can imagine her being dressed in an egyptian outfit though

  8. Didn’t Koreans invent the Pyramids? I remember reading one of their history books clearly stating that they did.

  9. Ignorance is bliss.

  10. I think she looks more like a moon-faced Barney.

    … Is that bad?

  11. When I first saw her and Daesung, I thought they was southeast asian because of their skin tone and facial features. (I used to think all Koreans have the smallest eyes, pale skin, flat face structure, etc etc) Welp, that’s another proof that slapped me crossed the face to show that Koreans have various physical features too.

  12. if you ever go to everland in korea. do check out their opy of its a small world boat ride.

pay a special attention when you pass south africa.

    • Many of us aren’t american or filipino so we’re unlikely to ever go to Korea. A fitting description of the horror that you observed would be welcome.
