Bias Tracker: Soompi names New.F.O worst name ever, stops pretending to have objectivity

Boy, boy, boy. How did I miss this clusterfuck?

In the past, I’ve called out both allkpop and Soompi for their coverage of New.F.O (allkpop’s girl group), and Soompi even got pussy hurt about it.

Recently though, in their “7 Worst K-Pop Group Names Of All Time” article, Soompi hit a new low, as they probably ran the most ridiculously biased coverage of a group in their editorial history.

Not a lot of fans are aware of this group that debuted in 2011. They appeared in a few music shows, but never made it big in the industry, and it looks like New F.O’s short-lived career will soon fade into obscurity.

One thing that will be remembered, however, is their group name. New F.O apparently stands for “New Five Order.” Not sure what type of order they were talking about, but at least they accomplished one thing – Topping the Soompi list for the worst K-Pop group name of all time! Congratulations!

If New.F.O wasn’t a group put out by a site that they hate, would anything close to this have been written? Of course not.

It’s especially amusing to me because they previously got pissed when I pointed out that they were being biased due to never covering the group. In response, they denied they cared about their existence, despite the fact that I knew they discussed the group at length in their private chatterings. So now with this article, they’ve basically confirmed to the public that: 1) they were pressed about the existence of this group 2) they were praying that they would fail 3) personal bias influenced their coverage of Korean entertainment.

Way to prove your worth after getting called out, you guys! Certainly showed me a thing or two.

Remember, this is coming from people who were mad that I represented them as on the same level as allkpop.

Look, none of us at Asian Junkie are fans of what New.F.O have put out thus far (I’ve always liked JN since Girl’s Day though), but holy mother of fuck, what a ridiculous blurb that was.

Soompi basically just said “fuck it” to any semblance of objectivity in journalism or moral high ground in their bitch fest with allkpop, just so they could take shots at allkpop’s girl group in some throwaway article.

Hope the jab was worth it, because now whenever anybody wants to question Soompi’s objectivity or tact or anything, really, it’s easily linkable for everybody.
