Kim Tae Hee fans fall for fake Facebook profile, are complete idiots

One would think that in this world of fake Facebook and Twitter accounts, it would be engrained into our brains to check that the account of a celebrity is authentic. I figure this would especially be true in wired Korea, but apparently enough people fell for a fake Kim Tae Hee Facebook profile that it warranted a news item.

A fake Facebook account was created by a fan, creating great confusion among Facebook users who friend requested and subscribed to Kim Tae Hee‘s supposed profile and mini-feed. The discovery was too late before a false claim was made by the fan managing the account.

The person who is in charge of the fake Kim Tae Hee Facebook account has been able to successfully deceive many into thinking it is the actress herself. The Facebook profile has convincing details listed such as her birthday, March 29 1980, her alma mater Seoul University and photos of the actress. And under the friends list, only celebrity names were visible. But what had shocked netizens most was her relationship status that was set as “married” to another fan. Fans from other countries who had subscribed to the Facebook profile began wondering, “Is she really married?” and were in shock to find out that the announcement was made in the manner it was.

Seriously? The guy who decided to use his free time to make a fake Facebook profile of Kim Tae Hee knows her birthday and college. Wow, how shocking. Furthermore, he somehow managed to find pictures of her. How did he ever manage that?

This is truly amazing work. No wonder people fell for this ruse.

  1. Yeah um… and how many fake facebooks, twitters, myspaces were made……..? It’s not that hard -____- Besides, I’m sure there would’ve been some news article if she had a real facebook so… yeah (since almost everything seem to make ‘news’ lol) I usually check on official sites and see who official twitter accounts are tweeting to know the person is the real deal and the accounts are real.

  2. In a related note.. Leeteuk was fucking stupid the other night. He posted a photo in his Facebook profile (which was disguised as a ‘roleplayer profile’) and it automatically linked to his Twitter. HAHAHAHAHA. I don’t know why I laughed at that but it was just hilarious to me. Now fans are gonna swarm his facebook.

    • leeteuk also tweeted his real cell phone # on april fools day…i still don’t get how it was supposed to be a prank

      • he’s fooling himself into thinking he’s not a giant, egotistical, attention whore.

        • OHHHHHHHHNOOOOOOOO- YEW CAN’T SAY DAT ABOUT TEUKIE OPPAR!!!! HE IS RIKE DUH GR8 PUBLIC SPEECHER- YEW IZ JEALOUS!!!!

          -_-

They’re prolly just covering this crap that they call news because someone got knocked up or something

      • Don’t think he knows what a prank is.

        :o

  3. I don’t really have anything relevant to add, so I know someone who kinda knew Kim Tae Hee by attending Seoul U at the same time.

  4. We repeatedly tell people via official artist channels that anything other than their official accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and website are fake and I still get inquiries daily about some imposter. Some people are delusional and want to believe they’re so special that the artist decided he/she wanted to befriend them. Even after you confirm that the account is fake, there are still some people that refuse to believe it and think the artist must be using their super secret account to contact them. Uh, no. We tell them to get the imposter to verify themselves, by asking the phony to contact them from one of artist’s official accounts instead of the fake one. Needless to say, that will never happen.

A lot of people are gullible.
