My reaction when I saw this headline a few days ago?
“Oh boy.”
Both because covering Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” has become cliche and because it’s almost impossible to make it a worthy cover unless you’re an extremely talented singer. SNSD‘s Tiffany … isn’t on that level.
It’s okay, though, fans think it was awesome!

Look, Tiffany is not a bad singer, but this isn’t even a good cover (besides not hitting the notes, it’s nasal as fuck), much less in the same league as the original.
Furthermore, why the fuck do they choose these songs that are way out of their range? It’s like trying to sing Whitney Houston or Celine Dion. Like, you’re pretty talented, but you’re idols, and you’re not on that level, so stop fronting like you are.
Her voice is just not suited for it. My goodness, she came out sounding nasally from the very second it started.
Wish I could e-slap the SONE who made that comment though. o_o

You really don’t know how bad it was until you watch Adele’s performance in comparison.
… That was like a screetchy high school talent show performance.
Because they think if they chose to sing ‘legendary songs’ (IWALY, MHWGO/Titanic, Respect, And I’m Tellin You, and now Adele signature song) it’s like they’re ‘proving’ they can sing… Like no; you gotta really be vocally talented to even sing those level songs in the same exact arrangements to be seen as a somebody. It’s different if they were singing it and wanted to do it their way and not trying to ‘prove’ anything.. but that’s what it clearly seems to be here. And of course fans make it worse (or the original artist fans) especially with biased opinions of the extreme sides.
Put her in some singing contest singing that and she wouldn’t go far. Simon would rip her to pieces.
It’s not even about comparing to foreigner ballad singers either, put these idols in singing contests with Korean soloists and what not (Immortal Song) and they are usually out of their depth.

She just doesn’t have the soul for the song and her voice is too damn nasally for my liking. Also I’m so use to stupid comments like the one that SONE made that I don’t even care anymore. It’s like “yes you’re crazy, good day sir or mam.”
Was the person who comment toned deaf or just plain deaf? I have never listen to this song until now but Adele’s Version gave me fucking goose bumps and the way she sang it, men, it felt so effortless for her. It was like listening to Opera Music.
All I can see on Tiffany’s Version is her trying (hard) and her pointy nose who looks like she was from Europe or something. She’s starting to look like Park Bom. A skinny Park Bom.
For a Tiffany worshiper, she sang it extremely good!she’s younger and cuter than adele so everything she does is better.if she and adele were on the same stage and someone farted,it is surely be adele coz she looks like it,but if it’s tiffany,it will be cute bec.she’s just human and it sounds music anyway!

I love Fany too but that was just bad. The song just doesn’t fit her voice.
most of us loves idols bec. theyr’e attractive and we are mesmerize seeing them move in the stage.doing things like this is to give fans reason to rationalize theyr’e liking for them like:
“hyoyeon is the best break dancer in kpop”
“yoona has the sweetest face and skinny even she eats a lot she’s an immortal goddess”
“jessica looks like a doll not a horse”
“taetiseo is the most vocally capable among idol groups”

they’re only 2 yrs apart in age and at the end of the day, Adele will be touring the world 20 yrs from now & winning lifetime achievement awards & Tiffany will be doing nothing.

The only cover of this song that I think was on-par with Adele was the audition from Park Ji Min on K-Pop Star…. probably an unpopular opinion, but her voice is at least thick enough to pull off those sort of power-house songs

I also agree. With Park Ji Min’s vocal range, it made sense for her to choose an Adele song. Everyone else needs to sit back & stop trying to sing songs like this lol
tiffany’s version wasn’t so bad on it’s own, (although the chorus was just painful to watch and listen to) but to say that her’s was better than adele’s, that person is clearly insane.

If she would of sang ‘Call Me Maybe’ it would be more fitting for her voice, and even be more cute. She already got a good voice, but why diminish that fact with a song you can’t really hold a candle to?

Honestly, I like Tiffany.
But she’s not that great of a singer.
She really is not. Her voice is sweet, but she needs to stick to simpler songs – something perhaps by Regina Spektor or Ingrid Michaelson.
Also, she should just work on her voice.
The reason why Adele is so spectacular is because she knows how to NOT sing through nose, she can use her diaphragm and she switches between chest and head voice with EASE.
Tiffany cannot, and that’s a MAJOR issue she should work on before tackling such a song.
And on another note, one should never try to do adele or amy winehouse songs and top them because they have voices that are very, very unique and hard to replicate. Maybe if she got much (key word: MUCH) better she could try whitney or celine dion because though they have great ranges, they don’t have a unique voice.
So yea, choose a different song Tiff.

The only good covers of this song that I have heard are from Park Ji Min and Go Radio, though the latter is very different than the original.

I love the Adele version. Gave me goosebumps when she sang it.
She interpreted and communicated the song correctly. It was lazy, hazy, even deep and growly, don’t carish in the verse. When she build up into the chorus, there was a lot of power and impact (thrilling!) and tapering off into one or two lingering, sweet tones at the end.
Tiff sang it straight through, it was a good effort but it was like she didn’t understand the song, the subtlety of it. It was straight up and down and unfortunately forgettable.
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bad choice. She should have attempted “We Belong Together” again since I think she’s improved a fair bit from her younger years.
It couldn’t have been much worse. And it’s not as if she can’t sing, but she should have picked something else.
