T-ara reps recently revealed that Dani, the ninth member of the group and future maknae, has already received and declined endorsement deals.
It’s both creepy and bullshit.
On May 31st, T-ara’s agency revealed, “T-ara’s new member Dani has been receiving love calls from cosmetics companies that amount to an enormous sum of about 200 million won (around $170,000 USD).”
Dani was revealed to the public on the 30th and has been attracting much attention with her visuals as she stands at a height of 167 cm. Dani relayed through her agency that, “I was dazed and amazed as my name rose up in the online real-time search rankings, and I am even happier that I received love calls from cosmetic advertisers.”
She also revealed more about T-ara’s recent activity as she stated, “Recently, the T-ara unnies are working hard in learning the choreography. I politely declined the love call.”
I haven’t been able to get confirmation on her exact birthday, but she’s 13 at most and could be 12, so there’s something a bit creepy about businesses trying to buy her through “love calls”. Pair that with the fact that the emphasis is on her visuals, and it sounds more like child prostitution than some validation of her looks.
Besides, making an announcement about turning down a contract is either: 1) a contrived way to make it appear as though an idol/group is popular 2) completely false bullshit.

From what I gather, endorsement is one of the main sources of profit in this business. Definitely more profitable than selling albums.
