The Wonder Girls covered B.O.B & Bruno Mars‘ “Nothin’ On You” recently and it caused Wonderfuls to absolutely lose their shit.
It’s hard to make me hate on the Wonder Girls, primarily because I sort of like them. Admittedly less so than if they simply swapped out Lim and Sohee for HyunA and Sunmi, but still, they aren’t obnoxious at all. Sure, their American foray cost them a lot, and I think it was fucking dumb, but they all seem to stray away from doing stupid shit.
However, the combination of what amounts to a mediocre to poor cover of a song I like and insane fan reaction to said cover has practically forced me to comment on it, because it’s all so goddamn ridiculous.
Okay, look, any time you are writing and you type the words “Sohee“, “sings“, and “beautifully” in a sentence, and it’s not separated by a “doesn’t“, you know all sanity has been lost and to report yourself to the nearest mental institution.
Holy fuck.
Apart from the Engrish, Sunye wasn’t bad, and while I love Yubin … once again, idol rappers are not actual rappers. The cover could have been far worse if it wasn’t for Sunye, but the way fans are reacting to it, you’d think this was a flawless performance or something.
To go as far as saying that their American adventure was worth it because of this cover is … insane, especially considering that they are using what amounts to barely understandable English.
Be honest, this was not impressive in the least.
They covered it before and fans are still acting like this, smh. The only reason I still pay attention to them is because of Sunye… I realized how much relevance they lost in KR when Infinite won over them a few weeks back. I was lead to believe that they still had A LOT of fans (their o-fans always defended them saying there were still a lot of k-fans) but I guess not as much as they had before.
Sohee didn’t do as bad as she usually does though, pretty shocking.
Sunye did really really good to.
I wish Ye eun got a better part though.

To be honest, WG needs an attention whore. They’re too plain Jane boring. I mean, their songs are good, Yenny, Sunye and Yoobin are cool, but they don’t stand out. They have talent but I don’t think they have that killer showbiz instinct that you need to get ahead.
People like Hyuna, Krystal, Suzy, most of SNSD, Seungri have that craving for more and greater attention.
I mean it’s a bit late for WG now, but if they had kept Hyuna, added Yoobin, added Suzy and kicked Sohee, Sunmi and Lim, AND stayed in Korea, they would have had a good shot of keeping pace with the number 1 girl group, and they could have been equal or better than 2NE1. But too many coulda woulda shouldas for these broads.
…Well shit. I didn’t think of it that way. Guess it’s better to have at least one girl that’s the aforementioned whore of the group instead of a group of just ‘decent’ girls =
Like in Shinee, where all my fucks go to Onew, in the WG Sunye is the only one i really like. She did really good, maybe it was the contrast with the rest, but oh well

Only two girls relevant in WG
I have no clue who any of the girls are, but I like the voices of the two with short hair.
Wondo gordas are not bad, and all (or most) groups have a Sohee, but pretty.
Wonderfulls might be delusional when it comes to their artist skills, but at least they don’t go around barking at anything that doesn’t kiss wondo gordas flat asses. That might be the main reason why I kinda like them, decents songs and somewhat sane fandom
It wasn’t a complete mess. Yenny and Sunye held it down for the most part, but what the heck was Yubin’s rap? That was atrocious. Even Lim did a lot better on her part, plus with little to no Engrish. Wasn’t Yubin in America before debuting with WG? What’s with all the fail Engrish on her part?
I guess, the part that really annoys me is that WG was in America for 2+ years, fully immersed in the culture, learning the language, but it seems like that venture couldn’t even get them to pronounce words correctly. If you’re going to flop in America, at least come back to your country with some English skills but that wasn’t even the case. Makes me hate JYP even more for screwing with a perfectly good group. So much time and money wasted with NOTHING to show for it but lackluster sales. C’mon, f(x) winning over WG? When could that have been possible three years ago?
JYP screwed them up big time. Hope he learns his lesson and never decides to debut another group in the U.S. again, unless they’re all native speakers or something.

the WG spent two years in the US but I bet they did what most koreans do in the states eat kimchi all day and watch korean tv hag out with korean friends the only one the didn’t do that was yenni she was fucking black guys from the hood oh and yubin she ate a lot in dunkin donuts
