Despite no new, meaningful information being revealed, the story of 2PM‘s Nichkhun‘s drunk driving scandal persists as a lead story, even if they have to roll out everybody who thinks they may have seen what happened.
Previously, an eye-witness who was at the scene of the accident claimed to have seen Nichkhun step into a convenience store following the accident to purchase two beverages. “I think he learned that the drink can lower your blood alcohol percentage if you drink it prior to being measured,” he said. However, new witnesses are saying that although Nichkhun did step into the store, he did not actually consume the beverages.
One person claimed, “As soon as the collision took place, Nichkhun stepped out and got on his knees with tears in his eyes. It looked as though he was praying,” while another said, “He was panicky and a bit restless.”
The E News broadcast also reported how the witnesses responded to the claim that said Nichkhun purchased and consumed a beverage prior to being measured for BAC. One said, “I don’t know if Nichkhun listened to his manager, but he went into the convenience store to buy the drinks after the police arrived. However, seeing this, the police followed after him to measure his blood alcohol content.”
Others said, “The blame was completely put on Nichkhun after it was revealed he had been driving after a few drinks,” and “It seemed like the driver of the motorcycle was about to get up, but immediately laid back down after he saw Nichkhun’s face.”
I asked this last time, but who the fuck cares what these people think?
Witnesses are inconsistent and provide dubious information, and going off the accuracy of the initial witness that came forward, that seems especially true in this case. After all, it’s their own opinion, not a statement of fact. Besides, the actions of both parties after the accident are largely irrelevant. It’s the actions before/during the incident that’s currently causing the controversy.
Maybe he tried to drink something to decrease his BAC, maybe he didn’t. Maybe he was sad afterwards, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe the guy was just acting hurt, maybe he wasn’t.
So what?
All of that is relatively inconsequential in the face of what has already been reported and having actual video of the incident.
I would like to write this letter of apology for such an irresponsible act. To the injured person, his family, the people of Korea, my fans, JYPE family and staffs, 2PM members, and all the people this situation has affected. I have betrayed the ones who have given me their love and support, the love and support I don’t deserve with such behavior. I feel the need to take some time off to re-think about my action and myself, to make myself a better person and never again repeat the same mistake. I am truly ashamed that I have disappointed so many, and I am deeply sorry.
This is JYP Entertainment.
Nichkhun has deeply apologized for his wrongdoings to everyone who has shown him love for the past five years, and mentioned that he would like to take some time to reflect on himself before returning to all his fans and the public with a new heart and mindset.
We, JYP Entertainment, will respect Nichkhun’s wishes, and as such, Nichkhun will not be attending the scheduled JYP Nation concert in Korea and Japan in August as well as JYP Fan’s Day among other upcoming schedules. For the events with contracts involved, we will do our best to amend the schedule and cooperate in a way that will not bring harm to those involved.
We deeply apologize that an incident such as this occurred with our agency artist, and we will continue to concentrate our efforts to make sure that things like this will not happen again.
He has apologized and his activities have been suspended, so the whole thing is about done for me, honestly.
What else is left to determine? None of the specifics about the situation matter, except to fans who want to find more of a reason to defend him and antis who want to find more of a reason to blame him.
He messed up, he has accepted responsibility for his actions, and he has been disciplined. Also, he deserves the criticism and backlash. That’s it. As far as I’m concerned, the show’s over, but we all know that’s never going to be the case.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
The whackest part of this whole story has been the fan response. I am not really that bothered by the way Nickhun and the company have been handling this…but the community response from various comment sections on the popular sites shows a disturbing willingness of young people to completely disregard the facts of a clear cut situation.
Yes, the fans clearly made this whole incident bigger than it already was.
Yup.
Also it was 3am, I doubt there’s this much witnesses. It doesn’t have much integrity at all.
At least he apologized. Don’t know why it took that long.
There needs to be some controlling in some comments’ sections though. Those fans are like ferrets on acid. Not knowing anything and just getting hyped up.
But that’s why people are trolling the CRAP outta the delusional fans on AKP. And the more they troll, the more those oppar didn’t mean it people go crazy lol. I think it’s dumb they’re still arguing with them too. And some saying the media is blowing it up and making it a big deal? Seems like the delusional fans are if anything ^^;
I agree. It really wouldn’t be such a big event if people kept it on the down-low. But, people always want to prove something and act smart…
I think it’s hilarious and sad that when this came out, fans just flat out said “Those are antis/saesang!!!!!! The first witness was so honest and sincere with his statement!” So yeah, when it protects oppa, they’re telling the truth, no one denies what they say… when it puts oppa in a slightly negative light, they’re wrong or just wanna bring him down. And now people think the victim is faking it because of that line. To be honest, people really think all of these idols are popular to everyone? There’s so frickin many of them! If I lived in a country that has 20mil idol groups I won’t know who is who! But yeah all of those witness statements are just fishy, including witness ‘a’ so *shrugs* And cops kinda sound dumb if they really said this accident wasn’t due to him drinking.
“He messed up, he has accepted responsibility for his actions, and he has been disciplined. Also, he deserves the criticism and backlash. That’s it. As far as I’m concerned, the show’s over, but we all know that’s never going to be the case.”
The logical person in me says “AMEN!”
The pressed and asshurt BBC in me says “GIVE ME HIS BROWS ON A PLATTER!”
Crazy aside, the fans trying to blame the guy who almost got killed by khun need to go jump in a well.
ZIco sets the standard too high lol.
well, proper apologies are rare in kpop
Gawd, if Nichkhun apologized by Zico’s standards, the Thai prince would have committed seppuku a long time ago.
I can identify with liley. As much as I think this matter should be done and over with, I can’t help but demand Nickhun to make a proper apology and not just TWEET a sincere apology. -_-
But yeah, I think people (including me) should let this go already because I don’t think the parties are gonna do anything more about this. JYP already suspended his activities, it doesn’t look like the victim will press charges…so yeah.
Also, Siwon and other celebrities should be trained to shut up on Twitter when there’s no need for them to comment. Their tweets are only bringing more unnecessary attention to this imo.
I’d make a nice coat out of his brows for winter time.
“It seemed like the driver of the motorcycle was about to get up, but immediately laid back down after he saw Nichkhun’s face.”
He’s scared to Nichkhun’s eyebrow….
I snorted omfg.
lol XD
Simple apology won’t work for this kind of case (DUI+Accident) though since it’s easy to say and sometimes the sincerity can’t be measured.
It worked for his Japan comment stunt but when it comes to endangered others live. It’s just not enough.
Many people want to see Nichkhun to get what a ‘normal’ people will get when they did the same mistake.
It could be jailtime, it could be community service. Anything to make the crowd happy.
I know many people will say ‘what right do we have to say that Nichkhun should get those punishment since he didn’t directly hurt us’?
Well, It’s very ‘humane’ wanting to see people get sequences for doing something horrible.
For example how many of us want the OE CEO dead? But then again, how many of us get abused by him? None, right. (Unless one of the reader is the victim and for that, I’m sorry.)
Sadly that’s how people work or else we don’t need prison.
I wouldn’t care if the OWE CEO was guilty and got killed.
:o
Not sure they would press charges if he was a normal guy though. Don’t think drunk driving is as severe in Korea as it is in America.
They probably should have cuffed him, he should have apologized, and he should pay for damages.
Other than that, I don’t think a normal person would get jail time unless the guy is seriously injured.
I’m sorry but I don’t get this.
Shouldn’t there be legal repercussions for this? For Daesung he had to settle stuff in court and be cleared of charges, investigated and all that.
Apologizing and promising some time out isn’t enough….
His license was suspended for his action because of this accident. I would waver that if the officer that seen sited him a D.U.I. No reports indicate he was arrested for such charges but only that his licenses were suspend. he may just get temporary license suspension and possibly parole.
That was the legal unless the victim claims injury. Nichkhun can be held legally responsible by courts if the victim sues him.
Other than that all has been done. all he need was the public apology and disciplinary actions from his label.
i’m sure jyp would alr have come to a settlement with the victim, which is quite simple given the victim isn’t dead, so no court cases will happen :/ For Daesung’s case the police had to investigate if he caused the death of the victim, and the victim’s family (i suppose) was harder to buy over with settlement, and that resulted in the case being referred to court.
He took a settlement though, right? That’s probably why.
In Daesung’s case, the guy was dead, so they had to investigate.
SIGH Khun is boring me now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGpEr8AkNw4 This is more interesting and easier to masturbate to.
Dayum, that boy is fine. I agree with the top comment though. Cute guys are always gay. :C
From what I’ve seen though.
lol at the most rated comment
Cute gay dudes like him make me wish I was a dude :(
He’s gay.
*sadface*
Is time to camwhore, everyone wants a peace of camera time, first was Wooyoung and now Siwon said some legit things fans just can’t say
http://www.allkpop.com/2012/07/super-juniors-siwon-shares-his-thoughts-on-nichkhuns-accident
was just going to mention the siwon tweet…seriously, all these celebs just can’t get their hands of twitter, and it has to be another twerp like siwon that decides to intervene to make himself look more relevant.
And it’s bloody obvious with the ‘maintain friendly relations between thailand and korea’ part of the tweet that his whole intent is to keep the k-wave going strong in thailand and leverage on khun’s cross-cultural popularity to bolster his own image in the eyes of korean and thai fans
and that’s y i think nickhun’s importance as a cultural ambassador for kpop in thailand will guarantee that his punishment will be very lenient. If he gets kicked out/ is dealt with according to law, the k wave in thailand will be threatened
WAIT WUT?
“Nichkun is the symbol of the Thai dream of success and has significance for both Korea and Thailand.”
The American dream is to be free, wealthy and happy so.. the Thai dream is to become a Korean idol star?..
That’s the reaction I gotten when I read that. I was like, “Ah-haha, no bitch, Nichkhun is the symbol of hypocrisy and bullshit.”
Nichkhun isn’t no symbol for success for Thai people. The hell he talking about? At least for me that is. And a lot of Thai people (plus the ones who couldn’t give one fuck about the k-wave or whatever) thinks he’s a sellout and a tool being used for “their” (their which means Korea) benefits. And people saying he’s a superstar in Thailand, they don’t know what the fuck they talking about. There’s hundreds of Thai artists and idols he can’t hold a candle to nor near any success they have. Plus his singing in Thai is horrendous. He sounds like a moose getting a handjob.
Siwon needs to pick up his bible and read it, and shut the hell up. ‘Cause he sounded really stupid for saying that.
LOL!!!!! Got me crackin up!
haha seriously tho. I’d rather listen to the Thai group K-otic than 2pm’s music. At least they have decent songs.
@hunny Yeah. But unfortunately they’re disbanding though :( All of the sudden; “Welp, Jongbae has to go to the military and we don’t wanna continue w/o all 5 of us, so we’re through.” um-hmm
What a way to diss your country kinda… No problem with like the other non-Korean people in Kpop because no one is saying that’s “xx’s (insert country)’s dream” ^^;;;;
First, he’s a hypocrite, and now he’s trying to be nice and considerate. Okay then.
All of you celebrities leave twitter alone, seriously, do it.
Finally He apologized…late but yeah at least he did.
Now punishment time.
yea, at least he apologised somewhat; still annoyed over the snotty excuses abt not knowing korean well enough… If he could write so eloquently in korean when telling others to behave professionally, he should be able to apologise in korean when he fucks up too
Were ALL of the witnesses also drunk at the time of the accident?
First we got one witness saying that the guy on the motorcycle was turning when the CCTV clearly shows that he wasn’t.
And now we’ve got someone who says Nichkhun dropped to his knees in tears and prayed. Oh, and that he wasn’t drunk at the time of the accident, he just got drunk AFTER because he was so distraught and that’s why he blew over 0.05%.
Right… Glad that’s cleared up. -_-
He got drunk AFTER? Hahaha. What?
Who the fuck would hit a guy, then get drunk before the police came?
HAHAHA.
WAT
I’ve looked at every k-pop fan site about this topic and every single article had comments supporting nichkhun. Only on this site will you have intelligent responses to such a simple scandal, he was DUI(illegal),hit someone(illegal). There’s really nothing else to explain, facts has been laid out, with concrete evidence.
Even if he is your bias, I don’t get how you can support a drunk driver crashing into someone, no matter who they are.
it’s a self-selecting group over here;)
The lack of pre-pubescent teenage girls here is probably one of the reasons why this website has retained its sanity. And thank god for that. :3
This web site is so rude..
well..Junkie is junk anyway!
deal with it or gtfo.
