Rookie girl group GLAM‘s “Party” music video isn’t that bad. The song is bad, but the music video is pretty solid. Bonus points for not hyping up the use of “The Matrix” cameras like SM Entertainment did for Super Junior, especially since GLAM did a better music video while using similar outdated effects.
Still though, a part of the introduction distracted me, as this has to be the cheapest set for what is supposed to be the moon I’ve seen since the turn of the millennium:

Pretty sure I’m not supposed to be able to tell exactly where the set ends and the green screen begins.
God, I hope that’s on purpose as some sort of ironic statement.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
holy fuck 1:32, girl doing 2000′s, this group deserves props just for that. So much better than the boy groups that has the so called “bboy” moves, she just fucking slaughtered them.
She’s gonna break her neck or something:

Yea it’s pretty sweet. The funny thing is that girl is 26!
I noticed that as well.
I liked the song, the composition was interesting. Plus the lyrics talk about open sexuality, always a plus in the heavy repressed K-pop catalog.
the composition was what bothered me though; chorus was alright, but the raps ruined the song for me. They are so awkwardly placed and executed, it disrupts the flow and momentum that the singing parts had built up…overall a boring song with annoying bits in between. Btw i don’t buy into the ‘meaningful’ lyrics that idols that idols have been puking out these days. Unless they have some sort of control over what they sing/ can embrace the message convincingly, it’s the same as any other gimmick tacked on to an idol group to make them seem better than average. It’s not that i don’t like these kinds of lyrics when it comes to idols, i just don’t think i can take those vry seriously.
I actually really liked it. They don’t seem to take themselves too seriously and I think that moon thing might have been on purpose…
What would be the point of that? :o
The whole thing is pretty random- you know, dancing in some hallways, playing videogames and whatnot… that moon sequence imo just falls in with a concept.
But I’m not a great analyst, feel free to prove me wrong…
I meant how does the set being terrible fit into the aesthetic?
Isn’t the whole thing tacky? Sparkles and gingerbread man, oldschool cars and UFO, I don’t think it’s supposed to look real and fancy
I didn’t see that anywhere else.
I remember that one of Perfume’s music videos had that type of concept once, but the rest of the music video seemed typical, so dunno.
I liked the song a lot, and the video is refreshing.
also, i can’t help but feel that they ripped of katy parry’s firework concept in the video.
Didn’t really like the song at first, but it’s growing on me.
Overall, this has been a good year for rookie groups (as far as quality goes). Unfortunately, I don’t think many of them will have a real chance in this overcrowded k-pop market.
Tell me im not the only one but part of the song sounds like 2ne1′s im the best when dara sings.
I loved the song instantly.
