Kim Kwang Soo is intent on crippling Core Contents Media with his stupidity

Apparently not yet satisfied with the epic mess he has created, Core Contents Media CEO Kim Kwang Soo has decided to make everything even worse with his dumbass decision making and lack of public awareness.

On July 31st, he was interviewed by Star News where he revealed that he met with the parents of Hwayoung and Hyoyoung and asked reporters to only report the facts for their sake.

He expressed, “After checking with T-ara’s backdancer team, I was able to confirm that the post claiming to be T-ara’s backdancer was indeed false, as with the content. The reason I terminated Hwayoung’s contract yesterday was because of her tendency to act out, such as refusing to perform on a live broadcast. The decision was made as a reflection of the opinions of T-ara’s staff. However, I believe that this decision will better aid Hwayoung in becoming a better artist.”

I still don’t understand why he’s continuing down this road. Maybe he’ll force them to eventually cave to come back or whatever else, but nobody will ever believe the shit he’s spewing ever again.

He continued, “Like I said yesterday, this decision has nothing to do with the bullying rumors going around. Because of the haters that are spreading rumors, the situation has taken a route of its own. These hateful lies are continuing to spread online, which is only making it harder for T-ara and Hwayoung.”

I’ve said this on Twitter, but I still don’t believe the primary villain in this drama are the T-ara members. I think they probably didn’t like Hwayoung much or they may have isolated her, but there’s not much to suggest that they actively bullied her.

To me, CCM and KKS have manipulated the situation from the beginning and have handled it with absolute incompetence, which has thus far only exacerbated the negative feelings of everybody from fans to antis to the general public.

Core Contents Media further emphasized, “We ask that all articles in relation to T-ara be confirmed through our company before they are released on the internet.”

So you can control them? That’s not how journalism works, you fuck.

Then again, it’s not like the Korean media are doing their jobs either, as they are apparently occupied making articles out of complete speculation so they can feed the sheep who are eagerly waiting with open mouths.

Later, in yet another genius move by Kim Kwang Soo, he tried to blame Jiyeon‘s past controversies on Hwayoung.

According to an industry insider, there was an incident that took place back in 2010 where Hwayoung did not oblige with T-ara’s manager who asked the girls to prepare for their stage performance.

This brewed some quarrel amongst the girls, and Hyomin who grew tired of her attitude gave Hwayoung a piece of her mind, but Hwayoung reportedly refused to listen to Hyomin as well. Fellow member Jiyeon who was observing the situation also stepped up to say something to Hwayoung, causing the two to begin arguing. Following the fight with Hwayoung, Jiyeon was then unable to properly focus on stage, and the way the camera captured Jiyeon made it seem as though she had an attitude problem.

Here’s the thing, chances are solid that Jiyeon had nothing to do with any of this. It’s likely that KKS is just trying to maneuver his way out of the clusterfuck he created, albeit without class.

The main problem? By involving other group members, members that the public have already decided they hate, all he’s doing is bringing further hate on the idols themselves. From a PR perspective, it’s insanely fucking stupid.

Kim Kwang Soo is seriously the worst fucking spokesperson for their integrity that I could ever imagine.

Then there was the accusation that Jiyeon slapped Hwayoung, supposedly made by a back-up dancer.

Well, that story was refuted (confirmation bias, again), but KKS claimed that the police were involved and that was confirmed to be a lie as well … by the police.

“There is not a single report on file relating to Core Contents Media or T-ara,” said the police department. “The various reports saying that [CCM] has reported this to the cyber investigative squad is false.”

The alleged false report, according to CCM, involved a self-described former back-dancer for T-ara, who revealed that group member Jiyeon had slapped fellow member Hwayoung on one occasion.

Not gonna defend the T-ara members, but Kim Kwang Soo is proving to be the worst person involved in all of this shit to me.

Everybody is focusing on the artists themselves, but he has turned this situation from something that could have been dealt with into a snowball of hate that’s rolling downhill at an incredible rate.

  1. Honestly, the police move was the dumbest thing he has done to deny the rumors so far.
Come on, it’s an outside institution which means they won’t be pressured by KKS lies … Did he really thought that they would support wrong affirmations that concerned them ?
He also paid a visit to Hwayoung’s family, just to say “Hi, let’s work toghether to save the group from which I eject you yesterday (TROLOLOLOL.)” apparently.

  2. This is the first time that I can honestly say that I have seen a turd being polished.

  3. This man is fucking insane. He clearly just says shit without thinking.

  4. his mind is clusterfucked. made it more worse than already is. /claps, kks, you have outdone yourself.

  5. From what ive seen the members werent being very nice to Hwayoung and even if netizens have ‘uncovered’ some shady looking past ‘evidence’ of bullying, there are instances that make you think ‘hmmm these chicks are looking like real bitches’.

With KKS, I dont think he understands the gravity of this situation. Even if T-ara are still on the charts their public image at the moment is looking too good. Their biggest fancafe is closing down. They are losing sponsors. Shit is gon hit the fan. Now if only Hwayoung would come out and do a tell all interview.

    • That´s the thing though. None of them can ever do a tell all interview unless they really want to fuck up beyond recognition whatever´s left of their career.

Remember, Hyoyoung is still under CCM and she´s basically CCM´s hostage to keep Hwayoung from talking. Even if Hwayoung talks, other companies will view her as a liability simply because SHE TALKS. They´re not gonna sympathize with her because this happened to her or whatnot, they will think that once they sign her up, there´s a huge chance she´ll also tell on them if they ever end her contract or do something along those lines.

As for the other girls, they´re in an almost the same situation as Hwayoung. If they do come out in public with their side of story, supposing KKS even lets them do that, they could admit to the bullying or deny it. If they admit to the bullying, they´ll be branded as bullies and they´ll be indirectly announcing to everyone that their CEO is a liar. If they do deny the bullying, who would believe them? Although those bullying ´evidences´ are quite questionable, their reputation have been so badly ruined that anything they say to defend themselves would only be viewed as lies. Not to mention that it´ll be viewed as more attack on Hwayoung. Either way, people will still hate on them and their career is virtually over.

      • so in a sentence they are all basically fucked….

      • The existing members of T-ara (or at least the ones that sent out the tweets) will always be viewed as villains now, so yeah – their careers are basically over unless some damning piece of evidence comes out that reveals Hwayoung to be some megabitch that had it coming (which I seriously doubt).

Hwayoung really doesn’t have to say anything at this point. Everything that has been speculated on by the public so far is COMPLETELY on her side. Nobody believes anything KKS says. So, her only motivation for “telling all” would be to help out the existing members of T-ara.

In other words, if the bullying situation really wasn’t like what is being accused and Hwayoung feels some sympathy towards T-ara for the shitstorm they are in, she could clear the air and say “the T-ara girls aren’t the villains people are making they out to be – we just didn’t get along”. But again – that would only be to the benefit of KKS and T-ara.

So, really – what motivation does Hwayoung have to talk about anything? Staying silent hurts KKS and T-ara more than anything she could say. There’s no way the “truth” is worse than what people are speculating about, so if she stays silent, T-ara really is fucked for good.

      • I wish the twins’ parents would file KKS and CCM a debilitating lawsuit. The company and that tyrannical CEO deserve it. Who do they think they are? It’s sad already that many businesses in this world sacrifice ethics and the well-being of people for profit, but this is just not acceptable!

      • 5dolls isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so Hwayoung should just tell all

  6. I don’t think the girls were the primary villains and I want to restrain myself from totally buying the bullying theory. The writer’s theory that the original members disliking & isolating her without the active bullying is more plausible. However, perhaps among the girls themselves the tension reached the breaking point at the Budokan concert. Hwayoung may be a diva as KKS said. Well she is very young and she’s put in an unfavorable position (KKS adding new members to ante up the competition, threatening to cut the lousy members, etc) + the other girls not really liking her. Maybe even as her alleged diva behaviour cannot be justified, I understand if it’s motivated by her frustration towards her situation. The same can be said for the remaining girls who perhaps didn’t like the new members addition, but couldn’t do anything about it. If they subtly ostracized Hwayoung, I refuse to justify that either, but I get it why the took out their anger at their boss on her.

The remaining girls who are involved have only themselves to blame for those passive-aggressive tweets. Even if they had the final straw with Hwayoung’s supposedly unprofessional behaviours, they unwittingly made themselves look like the bully and Hwa the victim regardless of who’s right and who’s wrong. Those tweets were the real beginning of this hot mess going public. They have no right to expect the public to be on their side after that such a dumb misstep.

I am disappointed in Soyeon the most w/ regards to the twitter war: she’s the leader, the oldest, and had been through the drama of making it to the final line-up of SNSD. A different situation, of course, but I expect that experience to mature her a little bit. Well, I could be wrong in calling her out, but it’s just a hunch.

    • I agree 100% with you. Mainly about the bullying theory. Yesterday there was so much speculation that unfortunately I bought the bullying thing. These girls are so stressed out that a mental collapse would be entirely possible.

    • The oldest is Boram, next is Qri( who refrained from sullying herself in the controversy and then Soyeon. Still, you have a point Soyeon could have stepped up, yet I believe she’s really tired. I mean, they all are if you see the vocal quality in their performances. Plus, she’s preparing for her first real drama role( long overdue imo).

    • Yeah. I think the bigger point is that nobody knows much yet except that KKS is a moron.

  7. Bullshit of epic-proportions. i think this girl just needs to leave, no point battling it out with a delusional old man.

  8. Doesn’t KKS have a boss (CCM is a subsidiary)?

How is this guy not fired yet? If there is any hope for saving this company, it would start with KKS being fired. That’s it.

There is no other realistic way to see the company surviving this without that happening.

  9. Boram would clap for him.

  10. I think the most interesting and stunning aspect of the scandal is the fact Kim Kwang-soo is to large part responsible for the public outrage.

Even if the bullying is an exaggerated claim, a blind person could notice that Hwa-young felt like an outcast – this alone assumes some personal problems inside the group.

The Japanese CCM staff claiming her innocence speaks against the “diva attitude” allegations – they have no reason to lie in favor of Hwa-young.

KKS so far did nothing but lie, deny, blame and threaten instead of actually solving the situation. He made from a hole in the ground a grave for T-ara.

Even if he admitted the group having issues, the scandal would have just died out after a while. In fact he could have used the publicity to make the public pity them…

  11. Well, well, well. CCM just cancelled T-ara’s schedule for the next couple of weeks thanks to the popcorn watching media fiasco. Heck, Eunjung was apparently a no show to some movie premier yesterday.

So yes T-ara fans (those of you who are still left), KKS has finally granted T-ara the rest you wanted them to have!

    :P

    • Everyone in T-ara is like “yes!! We can finally sleep and relax now. We should’ve had a scandal months ago”

  12. Someone please shut his mouth….I’m tired to see T-ara news everyday… :/

  13. Historians will look back fondly to this as the dawn of a new style in management.

  14. Hating anyone in T-ara for alleged bullying or whatever is shortsighted at best. Kim Kwang Soo has a history of spouting bullshit and being an evil motherfucker and is also quite probably a pedophile. I have no doubt in my mind that he’s 99% responsible for creating the environment that caused whatever happened to happen, and 100% responsible for the media shitstorm because he has no idea whatsoever on how to deal with public opinion.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if KKS was also involved in the prostitution rings, this guy is a seriously fucked up controlling asshole. He also tried to pressure DSP into blacklisting Kara when they were having contract issues, just because he’s a nice guy like that.

  15. That looser got it to the point where everything he does will be received badly and as a publicity stunt. I stopped understanding what his trying to achieve a while ago. Someone explain this to me, for my mind has been fucked.

  16. KKSPedobear needs to go, seriously.

  17. I feel really bad for the girls. I mean, T-ara wasn’t really on my map until this incident but there are two sides to every story. I feel like if there was any bullying it’s a product of hostile environment and a walking anus for a boss.

From what it seems KKS practically threw the girls in a cage match and said whoever pulls the most hair and still looks good in make-up wins. Excluding Dani who was probably quaking in her boots while KKS stroked her hair.

Where is lord shisus to bestow his wisdom on us right now.

    • I have a feeling that Hwayoung would still be in the group if it weren’t for KKS’s plan for Dani.

Dani is supposed to be a rapper in the group and KKS probably saw this Hwayoung incident as a “golden opportunity” to kick Hwayoung out to make room for Dani.

I almost feel more sorry for Dani and the other new girl Areum than I do for Hwayoung. Hwayoung is probably relieved by the outcome, but these new girls just signed up to be in what is now the most hated group in K-pop with the worst company in the business. They thought they were jumping on the express train to fame but it ended up taking them to the K-pop gulag.

  18. this guy lol

  19. Wow. Just. Wow.

  20. mybiasbeatsyourbias

What is he doing KKS its like he can’t shut the fuck up. He keeps digging a larger whole with his fucking double talk. Fucking this all up even more.

Girl fight 101, if two girls are having a disagreement let those bitches settle the dust. Why in the hell jiyeon barge in and took sides. Let these grown ass women handle their own problems. If you have to don’t take sides but do right even if it makes both of their biases wrong.

If she’s such a bitch that members within the group plus management confirm it. Than why wasn’t this dealt with before, why now? KKs claims there’s a history of hwayoung acting out. Why didn’t he settle this privately in a more mature manner.

His answer to the twitter fiasco is bullshit. He waited until one of the members acted out and than came in for the kill. He is hiding behind the last surviving t-error.

If this groups flops and dani fails. He would straight out blame every last one of those bitches but not himself.
    What a set up.

  21. The members must be shitting their pants…

And about Hwayoung ‘apologizing’ over twitter, either KKS is threatening to kill Hyoyoung or she’s been in on it this whole time.

    • I say it’s the first, Hyoyoung has been nothing but supportive of Hwayoung, and KKS might have had enough of the twin rebellion.

      • Yeah, they even found a picture of Hwayoung entering CCM before she made the tweet.. But I’m still not sure what to take as a fact anymore in this whole thing.

  22. I think there is going to be some collateral damage from this T-ara thing once more details about this come out:

    http://www.allkpop.com/2012/07/two-more-idol-groups-suspected-of-bullying

The ‘A’ group mentioned sounds like After School with Uee being the bullied one, right?

A recent article had Jungah lamenting the fact that Uee makes “ten times” more than the other members:

    http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/10876/20120718/sbs-strong-heart-after-school-makes-most-money.htm

And Kahi just ambiguously weighed in on the T-ara issue by saying that it is ‘nobody’s business’:

    http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/11715/20120731/gahee-says-doesn-t-seem-like-other-s-business.htm

  23. Isn’t the isolation of an individual within a group a certain type of bullying known as wangtta in Korea? I’m pretty sure that is what happened.

    http://english.daejin.ac.kr/~rtyson/students/finalessay/kim_wangtta.html

    http://waegukin.com/bullying-in-korean-schools-and-wangtta.html

    • Wow, it must’ve been. The characteristics of “wangtta” are similar to what happened to her.

      You learn new things everyday!

    • I think we’ve all been there at some point in our lives. That’s what friends and family are supposed to be for.

Feel it’s safe to say being given the silent treatment is a lot less severe than being physically and mentally harassed daily.

  24. And everyone knows that all (or most) of the people who demand “the truth” are actually people who just want to hear about how Hwayoung was harshly bullied so that their mean comments will mean something. Because really, the incidents are totally blown out-of-proportion and might not even be true. Even if T-ara AND Hwayoung were like “NOPE, no bullying was going on.” The people who want the truth will be like “They obviously lying/being threatened”. And thus even a pursuit for truth can by turned around by netizens as a witch hunt. Ah mob mentality, thou art humanity and common sense’s enemy.

  25. “I think they probably didn’t like Hwayoung much or they may have isolated her, but there’s not much to suggest that they actively bullied her.”

Isn’t isolating also another form of bullying?

    • Depends on what it entails.

Ignoring her isn’t being a bully. Means they didn’t like her.

Actively spreading rumors and harassing her, forcing her to be isolated, is emotional bullying.

    • It is apparent that the current members of T-ara only care for themselves. I doubt they even care for each other even though they are ‘together’.

No matter how you look at it, T-ara actively and consistently threw Hwayoung under the bus. Well maybe except for Qri, who may be silently protesting KKS or passed out from drinking.
