With SNSD being gagged and shoved on a plane by armed forces to do shit in Japan in order to fill the void left in SM Entertainment‘s Japanese sales by BoA and TVXQ, it’s clear that Korean agencies are now throwing their girl groups at Japan like bread scraps at pigeons.
JYP Entertainment had to answer with his marquee girl group and he’s now taking his chances with the Wonder Girls. But rather than flip something a little more recent such as “Be My Baby” into Japanese, JYP has decided to milk “Nobody” … again.
Why JYP? WHY!?
The “Nobody” titty is tired. It’s sagging like a used teabag. STOP MILKING THE SHIT!!! You would think this is the only song the Wonder Girls have ever recorded at this point. Fuck.
The video follows the same style of the Korean and English versions, there’s just less none of the Dreamgirls / Motown context here. And cheaper wigs. Much cheaper wigs. The video is cute, but it lacks the sharp cinematography and dance routine of “Be My Baby” and the humor of “Two Different Tears“. Most disappointing is that NONE of the Wonder Girls’ or JYP’s charms come through in this video. They could be a group of random girls off the street who were given a bunch of dresses from Forever 21 and told to dance in a circle around microphones for all we know.
Wonder Girls’ Japanese sounds better than SNSD’s and 2NE1′s, but with Lim and Sohee being the two members with the better Japanese, and thus singing the lion’s share of this song, nobody in Japan will be highlighting these girls for their vocal ability. It’s disappointing because Yenny and Sunye have serious vocal ability and can sing bitches under tram lines in Korean and English.

“Nobody For Everybody” is being toted as the Wonder Girls’ Japanese debut album, despite it being a CD single featuring three versions of “Nobody” with “Be My Baby” as a B-side. Ain’t nobody in Japan buying this mess.
Can JYP please set Jo Kwon free on Japan with “Animal“? Koda Kumi would not know what the fuck to do with herself.
But if they can’t sell “Nobody”, then their career in Japan is basically over.

There are some K-Pop songs I like more in Japanese, like Kara’s “Mister”. This is not one of them.
Just listened to the song/watched the music video and … holy fuck, translating this to Japanese completely ruined the song.

However the US better bring in fame. They’re on a slippery slope and they’re sliding down fast. They either need to
a) Make an album equally good as “Wonder World” and promote that shit properly
b) Find another producer. JYP hasn’t made an outstanding song in a long time, it’s bringing down the whole company.
Whoever it was fucked up bad. It sounds terrible in Japanese. Liked it both in English and Korean.
Didn’t “Wonder World” not even get #1 in Korea or something? I saw it was like #4 in physical sales?
In terms of physical album sale, they didn’t do as well. No one was expecting a stellar album and they were competing with SNSD, so no one bought the CD.
Digitally though they were successful. That’s about it.

Every relevant group gets those “All-Kills” when it’s released, but after a week or two, I want to know if they are still on top of shit.
That’s promising, at least. Not truly on a tumble yet. Just a bit of a downturn.
It’s rare to get all the songs on your album to the charts though. They still have a shot to regain their title of “Nations Girl Group” but JYPE has been extremely lazy.

It just looks really, really cheap. The dresses, the make up, the props, the whole PV in general. I feel like JYPE’s tossing WG everywhere (US, Japan) but they didn’t put enough effort or money to really make WG be successful in those countries.
JYP looks like it doesn’t know what to do with these girls now. Send them to America, they flop. Send them back to Korea, they lose popularity. Send them to Japan with a halfbaked MV that will most likely flop as well.
He stays screwing them over and that’s a shame.
Its like they pull a YG with “Nobody.” Its got a Chinese, English and Korean verse plus a remixed Korean version. Now the shitacular Japanese version.

I don’t thin WG will do well in Japan. Musically is not as appeal as Girls’ Generation and Kara. Those groups sorta fit on the j-idol spectrum. WG just doesn’t fit like 2ne1 and Big Bang. All those mention only Kara can fucking sing in Japanese.
JYP might as well change their names to FlopGirls because this is another turd single down the crapper. I know ‘Nobody’ was a hit song and everybody was popping to it, but it’s tired as hell now and it don’t sound right in pseudo-Japanese to me. He should of make them come out with a new song that fits with the Jpop audience like he did with 2pm and then maybe throw out crappy J-ver. of their older songs later.
Now I’m really intrigued for F(x) and SiSTAR to debut in Japan. Oooh, or SM put out another new group group called EXO-J for the hell of it.
You know what I hate about typing? When you type the same word twice w/o noticing it until it’s too late. And making typos that have no reason to be a typo. It grinds my gears so much.
EXO-J sounds like an amazing idea! Not really. But I wouldn’t be surprised if SM did that. All of the SM stans would love EXO-J before they even debut.

Why couldn’t they just come up with a new song? This song sounds so dated anyways. I’ll never understand these companies that are so quick to send a group to Japan after they just debuted. I get that it’s about the money, but still they haven’t even had a hit and you’re already sending them there.

@bb2 I’m not actually sure but I’ve heard that JYP is kinda a perv and does shit with girls who want to be idols. I don’t know if it’s true though, but seeing as Sohee is in the wondergirls the possibility is high.

A) talented in dancing/singing
B) very, very attractive
seeing as sohee has neither of those down, the only viable conclusion is she either has connections, sucked someone with connections, or sucked JYP himself.
Also besides sohee debuting in wg, another thing that makes me think maybe JYP is a perv is the fact that Min’s (who along with hyoyeon, is INSANELY talented at dancing, and isn’t a bad singer) debut kept pushing back makes me think that he might have hit on her/tried to get her to do stuff and she refused/ran away. (because she did run away at one point)

I really love the Wonder Girls and love that they are going on a world tour, but this MV was horrid. Didn’t flow and I totally agree Lim and Sohee were the strongest. I was hoping for something better or revamped. Oh well.

THIS COMMENT. Jo Kwon’s debut album came out of nowhere like a fucking flaming dark unicorn and burned all the basic bitches while giving no fucks at all. I could see him do well in Japan to be honest, he can run wild with his image and style and it would be glorious.
He can be even more flamboyant in Japan and they would probably love him for it.
In a country where Hard Gay and Jonte are popular variety shows fixtures, I don’t see why Jo Kwon can’t flourish there. In fact he might be the only k-pop idol currently that has a chance of making it in nipponland.

it might’ve actually made more sense to do a japanese debut in 2009 and put effort into it while maintaining their position in korea instead of going to america for no reason. now it seems like JYP is trying to do too much with them at once without putting a real effort.
even with groups i like i don’t bother listening to the remakes most of the time so why would people who aren’t fans actually spend money on it? i think when kpop groups actually make original songs and put somewhat of an effort it will be worth it in the long run in terms of profit instead of trying to make some cash the cheap way.
