According to Core Contents Media CEO Kim Kwang Soo, T-ara‘s Hwayoung is leaving the group because T-ara’s staff complained about her.
CCM’s CEO, Kim Kwang Soo, announced the departure in a press release written by the president himself. “In deference to the complaints by T-ara’s staff of 19 people (5 stylists, 7 hair & makeup, 5 on-site managers, 2 team mangers), Hwayoung’s contract as an artist will be voided effective immediately with no conditions.”
Kim Kwang Soo denied any correlation with the recent controversy that erupted following tweets from the T-ara members that were interpreted by many as one-sided bullying against Hwayoung. “We wish to impress upon the fact that this has nothing to do with the ‘bullying’ reports surrounding T-ara,” CCM said. “Although the staff of Core Contents Media stayed up into early morning discussing with the T-ara members who all wanted to stay with Hwayoung, we apologize in saying that we could not forsake the arguments of the staff members.”
“We deeply apologize for the many incidents which made everyone who loved T-ara nervous and worried, and we have nothing but sadness to convey such an unsettling incident on their third anniverary. We also apologize again to the T-ara members and wish Hwayoung all the best as a powerful rapper,” CCM concluded.
Look, I like T-ara, and I’m not a Hwayoung fan, but this has to be testing the bullshit meter, right?

So they’re turning it around on Hwayoung to make it seem like she deserved to be bullied.
I guess it’s a good way to revive the rest of the members reputation, but they just could’ve lied and said the members were messing around.

It’s common in both Korea and Japan to cover up bullying cases and basically either blame the victim or deny responsibility.
Saying that the victim didn’t work/try hard enough is typical because the majority of the people still have the mindset that bullying only happens to “bad/useless” people.
Sad but I guess it’s just the side effect of a community centered society – the honor of the community is above the pain of the person.

I’ve never said anything about this bullying issue until now because I refused to believe it’s true. Sure, I felt like Hwayoung has never really fit in the group from the very beginning but there were also times she seemed welcome. I’m not saying the bullying issue is true now but there’s definitely a lot of BS going on here and as a fan who has actually bought their albums instead of pirating them, I feel offended.

I can see this ripping T-ara’s entire fandom even further apart, as if it needed more ripping. I was never part of any forum or whatever but I know there are a lot of people who’ve never supported 7-ara and only supported the original members. Same goes for 7-ara stans who refuse to accept Areum and Dani. (There are people like me though who are neutral on Dani and Areum.)

I’m not defending T-ara behaviors but I can’t believe people are saying they are done when many other artists (and record labels) have done things as bad or even worse than them and were forgiven.

There’s always gonna be double standards whether its intentional or not..which I’m not trying to be…but for 1 I was never a fan like I was for the others idols you mentioned and 2.) I think T-ara was popular but not as popular as 2pm and DBSK. 3.) They have KKS as a CEO which explains why they are ruined in MY opinion. That man makes decision on behalf of himself, not the whole company or other parties.
So, some idols are allowed to behave badly because they’re popular and the CEO will apologise properly, whereas the not so popular idols must behave as porcelain dolls?

I agree with you about KKS incompetence but I never said T-ara was over, I was just trying to understand 1) KKS speech contradictions; 2) The reason why people defend some idols saying ‘I hope he’s/she’s okay’, ‘I’m glad he/she doesn’t hurt himself’, ‘he/she did this b/c he/she can, b/c they’re popular’ and at same time some of these people want burn T-ara in a bondfire without understand or try to understand the problem.

You know, it actually does make sense in some ways. The members of T-ARA’s tweets would make more sense in the context that they knew about Hwayoung leaving, rather than it just being about her leg injury.

I never really followed T-ara, so I have zero knowledge on how popular Hwayoung actually was, still. KKS randomly announcing his insane ideas will eventually make the fandom insecure.
In case of T-ara, due to the competitive atmosphere inside the group, it will be uncertain who stays and who goes. If anyone falls behind, she’ll be kicked out and possibly replaced – at least that’s what this decision speaks of.
I don’t know how long KKS can keep T-ara up but I predict more scandals if things don’t change within the company.

Let’s say that it’s true Hwayoung’s got an attitude/lazy/etc and everyone’s fed up with her. OK….so the other girls’ response was to take the catfight to twitter. Brilliant, clap clap clap…I am in awe of this PR excellence.
While the problems aren’t different, haven’t they learned anything from the 2PM-Jay Park saga? The remaining six boys and JYPE weren’t as open with the conflict and still they got the backlash. And now, these girls want us to think the lame statement from their CEO will convince us that they would’ve wanted Hwayoung to stay? Puh-lease.
that was what I was thinking. CCM should followed JYPE route. Have hwayoung lay low for a bit saying since she broke her leg she is taking a break. Then couple months later either kick her out or say she left for personal reasons. Maybe then the backlash wouldn’t be so great.
We will never know what’s going on behind the scene. Regardless of who’s truly guilty, the remaining girls better brace themselves for all the hate. Even if Hwayoung was at fault, it still looks like her members were ganging up against her and that is PR disaster. Good luck.

Well honestly I’m seeing this as maybe she was probably annoying or something in the company. Do I think stylists, website managers (like come on… they deal with the website -___-) and all of them have real say that their complaints will fall through and make someone leave? I highly doubt it but it makes me wonder more what went on behind the scenes. (also wonder what the complaints were. It’s possible they’re a cover for something else and just used it as the ‘official reason’)
