If Chad Future‘s worldwide debut with “Hello” isn’t a tongue-in-cheek troll job of sorts, then I apologize, but Lance Bass confirmed that Heart2Heart was a parody (also got an e-mail from a staff member saying as much), so I feel it’s fair to assume this is as well.
Anyway, I feel the same about Chad Future as I did about Heart2Heart, that is to say I think it’s genius trolling of the international K-pop fandom. Like epic next level shit … and I love it.
When you think about it, if this same concept was done by one of their biases, they would be sucking his or her dick and digging deep into the recesses of their soul to find some ridiculous connection that makes the song infinitely more meaningful than it actually is. Yet, because this is a white dude doing K-pop, people are either angry at the idea of it or just straight insult the whole concept.
Personally though, I see it for what it is. K-pop fans are now witnessing what their biases would generally look like to American audiences, and they are proving to themselves why it hasn’t already and probably will never work. All the flaming and hatred directed towards him? They’ve basically been baited into flaming their own oppars and unnirs because what he’s doing is absolutely related.
I’ve said this many times before, but I love K-pop primarily BECAUSE it’s ridiculous and would be stupid in the West. That’s the charm of it all. So for Chad Future to poke fun at the people who take it too seriously and refuse to believe it’s derivative of Western pop? Genius. I’m all for it.
Aside from making a music video and song with much of the same production qualities as your standard K-pop music video and song (better in a lot of ways, actually), he even went the extra mile and did the whole ridiculously over-the-top hype press release too.
Bridging the gap between American and K-Pop music, Detroit born Rapper/Producer Chad Future teams up with Top 20 Singer/Song Writer Jeremy Thurber for what Billboard has called the World’s first “AK-POP” single, ‘Hello’.
Chad Future has co-directed and produced the $100,000 worth music video for his debut. Rising Producer ADR created the addictive music melody and Legendary Engineer Tom Coyne (BigBang, 2NE1, Usher, Lady GaGa, Britney Spears, Adele, Michael Jackson) was in charge of mastering the debut track.
Featuring both languages, energetic beat and a positive message, ‘Hello’ marks the arrival of the future and next generation of world music.
This is fucking genius.
Hype up the guest feature despite nobody knowing who it is, cite whatever irrelevant press memo one can find, exaggerate the amount of money spent on the music video, fabricate some deeper meaning to the lyrics, and cite some production dude that nobody knows anything about but mention he/she worked with a bunch of famous people once. All of it. It’s fucking gold. I couldn’t have parodied it better myself.
I know the guy has a day job and what not, but I hope he continues with this project just for the sake of my own amusement.
FUCKING SUPPORT CHAD FUTURE OPPA, OKAY?
