JYJ (their representatives) and SM Entertainment attempted to reach a settlement in their court case recently to end their contract dispute, and to the surprise of absolutely nobody, it didn’t get anywhere. As a result, there will be another court date on September 13th.
SM Entertainment and JYJ have been in trial since last May, going through a total of six hearings to reconcile their differences thus far. However, at the end of last year, both sides failed to reach an agreement and hearings have resumed. In May, both sides expressed their points during the hearing and waited for an official verdict, but the court advised a mutual adjustment so another trial date was issued.
However, the two sides have failed to meet a mutual agreement once again. JYJ’s lawyer told Star News, “The difference in opinion between the two sides is too large. An agreement could not be reached so it was decided that another trial will take place around September 13th.”
The lawyer continued, “SM Entertainment’s side is to ‘forget about the past’, and our side is to settle all the accounts and issues in court. Both sides diverge in opinion, but the court is encouraging a voluntary agreement or a mediation until a decision has been made.”
After three years of both sides battling for an agreement, the chances of the court making the final decision have risen. When the SM Entertainment representatives exited the court, they answered the reporters’ questions saying, “There is nothing for us to say yet.”
Dunno about everybody else, but it’s pretty clear to me that SME isn’t all that confident in the outcome of the trial, as they’re basically just drawing this out as long as possible and will likely continue to do so. I mean, not this incident in particular, but the whole case seems to be one long drawn-out stall tactic to fuck with them as much as possible.
On the upside, at least people will stop thinking a TVXQ reunion is imminent like they were last week because of website profile updates.

As for that whole TVXQ reunion fiasco, I knew it was bullshit. Just because some news sites or the Japanese site for that matter puts up all the group members’ names under TVXQ doesn’t automatically mean they’re getting back together. But of course, fans wanted it to be true. It’s unlikely at this point it will ever happen. To be honest, I thought that whole fiasco was a publicity stunt to draw attention to SM’s “Best of” album or it could have been a cover up of something else. It’s actually not the first time something similar happened before…..

I disagree with the conclusion you made. The blacklisting only made them get the pity support. The public saw the good old underdog vs evil company and began to support JYJ. Regardless if they were able to get onto the music shows, I think they would still have grown as artists. Maybe they wouldn’t have been forced to go out globally for an audience, but I’m confident that they still would have experimented, especially considering the way their company operates. They could throw out jackshit and still receive love from the public and fans because of the evil company sympathy and the die hard cassies left over from TVXQ.

JYJ’s music is even worse/less original than dbsk’s mediocre korean music. “Ayyy Girl” and their first album sucked. 2nd album was still disappointing. there is zero “growth”/”experimentation” besides junsu’s hilarious mv (but the song itself is a typical mediocre autotuned track).

I keep saying that IF DBSK were to reunite as five they wouldn’t be the same no way. They’ve been seperated for almost three years (which is a pretty long time in K-Pop land). And who knows. JYJ may have said they wanted to reunite but their minds might change by the time this lawsuit ends or they leave military service. Then you also have to think about the fandom. Fans are so confused of who to support. At this point it’s a very slight chance TVXQ getting back together.
I’m not sure that being together all of the time would create a bond, especially considering that pretty much all Kpop bands don’t like each other (in their own groups). T-ara is a perfect example of this. Also add the elements pride and betrayal and you have five men that won’t reunite.
But yeah, even if they were to reunite the majority of fans wouldn’t come back. Most of them have left for younger pretty boys to wet their pants over. You’re right: they won’t be the same

I’m not saying it’s necessarily a positive bond, but living and working together that much, you’re going to know a lot about a person, and knowing a lot about a person generally means knowing enough to forgive their flaws. You can’t really even use t-ara to compare to DBSK, because the situation with T-ara revolves around a new member of their group.

This is the case for pretty much every Kpop group. Look at how well groups like SNSD and SUJU get along. They’re not exactly friendly unless the camera is on them. The KARA members don’t even spend time with each other, Amber beat up Krystal, the list goes on. We can even expand this to other places, like spouses that divorce each other, parents in different countries that kill their own kids for ridiculous reasons, siblings that never talk (actually the case with Micky/ Yoochun), and many other cases. Lots of time spent together doesn’t always help form a bond between people that will help them overlook differences and flaws or be good to each other and get along well. Some people just aren’t as fantastic or sexy as you and I and can’t get along well.

With T-Ara (as shown in a more recent article on AJ- I prolly should’ve mentioned that earlier instead of assuming that you already saw it), Soyeon spoke of the jealousy that would spark fights among the members. You want to tell me that five of some of the biggest Kpop celebrities desperate for the spotlight wouldn’t do the same? If groups like Super Junior are flipping over tables because of some members getting more attention than others, then TVXQ is just as likely to do the same. She also talked about the CEO making decisions that didn’t help the group. CEOs aren’t going to form groups based on the fact that they’re friendly with each other- it’s gonna be to make the most money. That means that you could be shoving people together to live and work with each other for years that might not even get along. (Side note: you stated that DBSK said that they were close, which they did many times, but what groups don’t say they get along famously? That’s all fake and edited for fans. There’s a reason why eight hours of programming will be filmed with only about an hour broadcasted in the end, as with Star King, or that the use of scripts in reality shows pops up as breaking news from time to time. It’s all to shine people in the best light. Tell them what to say and how to act (which Jaejoong said that SM did, assigning roles to each member), and you got people that actually hate each other but act all lovey dovey to get the fans to love and support the groups).
These men obviously had differing opinions on the company and their future, and I don’t hate or blame them for the decisions they made based on those opinions. Each side wanted the best for themselves, they just thought that what they eventually decided for themselves the was best. However, that doesn’t mean that they don’t hate each other. With harsh tweets from JYJ about TVXQ for things like “leaving them for the enemy” and Changmin saying that JYJ was evil (or weren’t human or the devil…. I forget) for calling SM the enemy shows that they haven’t forgiven each other for their choices, but that they are resentful of the other. These guys seem to have let the betrayal and pride come in between the groups and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. They aren’t desperate enough to get back with the other since both groups are still doing well with their activities.
Maybe, if it got to the point where one or both groups needed the other to carry on in the Kpop industry that they may be forced to put past issues aside and work together, but it currently doesn’t look that way seeing how fine each group is doing separated. They still have enough fans supporting the two groups that neither need to join again. I think that they should join, but not under SM. They could then still have a hold over the fans that are still deducted Cassies and do what they want. They’ll also survive for a longer period where more and more “pretty boy” groups are taking the former Cassies.
Well now that you wasted your time with a TL;DR I’m just gonna point out that I never said (basically) that it means they get along, I said it means they should be able to get past differences for a bigger cause, because after working and living together so long, their relationship is far from shallow.

ship than any other band. Spending time together as a group doesn’t mean anything. Were you here during the saesang account thing? If not, ask herpaderp about anyone in Kpop. Those people aren’t friends (with the exception of a few people, most in YG), they’re co-workers. Basically, they had no real “relationship”.
Secondly, the bigger cause was their career in the future. The members of JYJ thought it would hurt to stay in SM, the current members of TVXQ thought it would be dangerous for them to leave. Maybe up until the split Yunho and Changmin thought that they should leave too (considering the tweets from JYJ) but decided not to last second. There was no more bigger cause than that.
Lastly, considering that the “bigger cause” was their future career, they won’t be joining anytime soon because of how pissy they are with each other and how they’re still doing fine on their own

I don’t feel a need for a real argument, because I see your point as well, I absolutely don’t think they’re much more than co-workers (in many cases, although I’m sure there’s some friendships out there.) But they have usually been working together for a while. To me it isn’t about “closeness” or “deepness”, but very simply about what’s normal. DBSK should, in my opinion, know how to work well together after 5 years. It should be normal to them. But I come from a very different culture. I can really only speculate.
