The Korea Media Rating Board has filed a complaint with the police against the promoter of Eminem’s Seoul concert for violating a public performance law, officials said on Thursday.
The hip-hop star performed 26 songs at his Aug. 19 concert, including 20 songs rated “inappropriate” for teenagers by the Gender Ministry, the rating board said. Access E&T, Seoul promoter of the show, initially submitted a list of 11 songs that had received the green light from the Gender Ministry, but none of the 11 songs were performed at the show, KMRB said. The ratings board gave the show a PG (age 12 and up) rating because it didn’t have any of harmful songs for youth, it added.
“The show included performances that were inappropriate for minors such as leading the audience to shout out cuss words (after the performer),” officials said.

Someone tell me why this board even exists? These kids will always find a way to access “youth inappropriate” songs. Instead of targeting music, they should be targeting bullying, Internet addiction, and suicide. Those are the REAL harmful factors to youth.
IKR?!?! I have such a problem with the Korean government doing this- it’s beyond stupid. I remember Lady Gaga said something like “I think that the parents of those attending my concert know what’s better for them than the government” when the ministry didn’t allow people at a certain age to attend the concert.
And yeah, they should be putting more money and attention on their school systems instead. The Korean exchange students that would come to my high school would say how they didn’t have people for guidance like counselors, how bullying is really bad but you can’t do anything about it (if a teacher tries to handle it, the school will get a call from an angry parent demanding that they leave their child, the bully, alone. Bully gets away with it, teacher gets in trouble). Maybe if they turned their focus to things like that instead of this stupid crap, their suicide rates would go down
It’s sad to know how foreigners are seen as potential vectors of danger while bullying seems to be something almost institutionalized in the daily school life and suicide among young people is steadily increasing in the country.
