In my review of G-Dragon‘s “One Of A Kind” music video, I mentioned why I generally don’t like him, saying:
Now if you’re surprised by my rating of the music video, you should be, as I’m not a real big G-Dragon fan. Not because he’s in a boy band or anything else, but just because he seems to be buying into his own hype (dipping into his own stash, so to speak) and doing outrageous things just for the attention. Quite frankly, it’s annoying to witness, especially when his fans worship everything he does, no matter how stupid.
Never does all of that hit home harder than in his music video for “Crayon“.
Like it’s not even entertaining to me. Unlike his other music video, it’s not done with comedic effect, nor is it tongue-in-cheek, it just tries to put as much weird ridiculous shit in as possible. Then it basically hopes that people will think it’s edgy and cool, when the reality is that it’s just a mess.
I can’t wait until a fan tries to read into this and comes up with some deep meaning about how it teaches us about world politics and self-confidence or something.

I have this so to speak “artistic bone” and I often appreciate visuals other people find repulsive and vice versa.
Crayon reminds me of childish drawings and scribbles and in that context the music video does have a sense – just like children take the crayon and draw whatever the fuck they want, GD just took a bunch of clothes, background and people and “drew” whatever crossed his mind.
If he were to always make such MVs I would probably be the first to say “this is annoying beyond patience” but this is his second or third visually loaded “mess” and I do see a connection to the actual track.
I’m not going to say it’s as worthy as fangirls make it seem like but I understand the thought behind such an MV.

I thought it was a fun MV/song, I’m not going to make it more than what it is because that’s ALL it is. I don’t think GD should be blamed for what his insane fans say though, Kpop fangirls are just a different breed.
