Media manages to make false story of COOL's Yuri's murder worse by outing victim's details

As if to prove that yes, the Korean media can get worse at their jobs, Newsen tacked on to the fail of No Cut News — a fail which I summarized yesterday regarding the false report of COOL‘s Yuri‘s murder — by releasing the name of the victim and revealing the details of the wake.

Swell.

Newsen’s picture was apparently blurred while I was sleeping, but they identified the victim as the ex-wife of COOL member Kim Sung Soo. Additionally, they gave everybody the details on the wake and primary mourners. Because remember kids, we absolutely need sources to give us up-to-the-second updates on this shit.

Journalism. Tact. Yes, we can.

The entire course of events that led us to this point can be recapped thusly:

The victim, who is also actor Gong Hyung Jin‘s sister in law, was at the bar with ROO’RA member Chaerina and three other men. Although Chaerina was able to escape from harm, the three men also suffered injuries. One of the three men was pro baseball player Park Yong Geun, who is currently in critical condition at a hospital.

The attack occurred at around 2:05 in the morning of the 17th in Shinsadong, Seoul. The argument started when the attacker, who had first just been at an adjacent table, asked the victims’ table to quiet down. According to Chaerina’s representative, “The argument was calmed down inside the bar after an apology. Everyone thought it was over, but the attacker suddenly came with a knife and stabbed people.” The attacker had reportedly brought a knife from his car, and his attack caused about 10 customers to flee immediately.

The police stated, “The assaulter stabbed the 3 men. Then, while he was fleeing the bar, Kim Sung Soo’s ex wife chased after him and was attacked on the streets.” It is reported that the victim died on the way to the hospital.

So there are actually a ton of people involved in this mess.

Regardless, way to go Newsen for lowering the bar even further.
