So a rumor going around recently is that Lee Michelle — she of “K-Pop Star” and SuPearls fame — is having problems with YG Entertainment.
According to an initial post by Sports Chosun, insiders in the industry are said to have revealed that the singer and the agency seem to be in conflict due to differences of opinion, and that Michelle has not been showing up at the agency.
On the rumor, YG Entertainment is reported to have commented, “We cannot reveal in detail about the incidents that occur before debut. For now, please keep an eye out with interest.”
Well, shit happens.
I did find it interesting though that YGE didn’t come out with a straight denial and instead sort of used it to hype the release.

In all seriousness, given the reality that Korea does have a problem with racism, it wouldn’t surprise me if a part of this was racially motivated, nor would it surprise me if a trainee simply acted up, but the point is that it’s a tad early to make any judgment on the issue, much less a final one.
For what it’s worth, YGE did just now step up and say that there’s nothing going on here.
YG Entertainment stepped forward to clear up the rumors and denied there was any discord between Lee Michelle and the agency.
The agency added it believed the rumors began from Lee Michelle’s absence from her training, which being attributed to personal reasons.
The representative stated that Lee Michelle was simply taking a break, just like countless other trainees who at times deal with personal issues, and denied that there was any discord or conflict.
Well, that’s a lot more straightforward than their earlier statement.
Whether that’s the truth or not, who knows, but it has to be taken more seriously than speculation based on nothing.

Well, part of it is “Indian Princess” syndrome (“We didn’t steal the land, we’re descended from an Indian princess!”) and part is that there really ARE a lot of people of Cherokee descent. There are two big factors contributing to that. One-the Cherokee were one of the more “European” looking tribes in the East, so spouses could be passed off as white. Two-generally speaking the Cherokee didn’t have a stigma attached to being a half-breed. The same cannot be said of other tribes. The first thing also meant that the Cherokee could be more successful (again, generally speaking) in white culture, thus contributing to the likelihood of interbreeding.

He was doing a show for the Creative Project in Seoul when a bunch of (white) foreigners kept heckling him about doing the Gangnam Style dance. So he pretty much lost it, stopped the set, and went OFF. Said fuck you white people, fuck CNN, fuck Hollywood and said Asians are not jokes for white people to laugh at or use for comedy.

Everyone knows that Tiger JK’s outburst had more to do with his jealousy of Psy’s success (who I’m sure he views as an inferior) than any perceived “racism”.
Apparently it was just a couple of idiots near the stage asking him to do the “Gangnam Style” dance. They might have been hecklers (which would make them simply jerks – not racists). Then again, they could have actually wanted to see him do the GS dance – just like almost every single Korean variety show MC the last 2 months has asked of every Korean guest. Certainly not enough to warrant Tiger JK’s racist rant towards all the white fans in the crowd (99% of whom had no idea what he was ranting about).

Really? That’s new. In the discussions I’ve read nobody ever brought that point up. It was always people arguing about how “Was Tiger JK racist or not when he said ‘fuck all white people’?” etc. etc. and a bunch of people made outrageous excuses for him because he was part of the Asian minority (even though technically he was part of the majority since his concert was in Korea) – basically saying he could say whatever he wants about white people since they have “oppressed Asians for centuries ever since colonial times and WHITE PRIVILEGE IS ERRRRRVERYWHERE, and you white peeps will NEVER understand how we minorities feel when we are discriminated!!!!!”

He was even whining about how he was jealous of his wife getting “love calls” in the US. Probably butted his way into that Far East Movement remix, when originally it was just supposed to be Tasha on the track.
He also has been telling odd, non-believable stories recently about how he rejected offers from Michael Jackson in the past.
He is jealous of Psy’s success and it boiled over in that moment at the concert. That’s the only rational explanation. I’m sure he was pissed at the guys who were heckling him to do Psy’s dance, but that was just the tipping point.

Tiger J/Ks rant came from somewhere deeper. His experience as an Korean-American are what brought about his tirade. He did what I can only imagine many Asian-American have been wanting to say. There comes a point when you have to be loud and verbal. A Radical approach is exactly what is needed for.others to acknowledge his grievances with the subtle racism towards Asians as a whole.
Lol it was more than being “loud and verbal.” He basically cursed out all white people, even though it was only a few people in the audience who called out for the GS dance. Whether it was racially motivated or not was unclear. People have constantly INSISTED to me that it was and slapped that “racism” label on everything, but logically no one can make that conclusion with the information presented.
I’m Asian American, and that “radical approach” shit doesn’t fly with me. Cursing out your audience is unprofessional and just shows lack of control over your own temper.
