[Review] [Single] Girl’s Day – "Don’t Forget Me"

Musical stability isn’t a part of Girl’s Day‘s vocabulary, as they’ve managed to hit every sour note in arm’s reach throughout their K-pop existence. On and off, we’ve gotten very different extremes to Girl’s Day’s musical identity; from being strong and engaging, to full of gimmicks and juvenile pantomime. Trusting a girl group like this one isn’t an easy task, and quite honestly, doing so still feels like a challenge of insurmountable proportions.

But once in a while, even in the most unforgiving of circumstances, a glimmer of hope appears. This month, it reveals itself in the form of “Don’t Forget Me“.

Known for being overtly childish and cute, Girl’s Day strips that level of superficiality away in “Don’t Forget Me” and makes due with a far more genuine sweetness commonly heard in girl groups like A Pink and Rainbow. To no one’s surprise, it works wonders for everyone.

“Don’t Forget Me” is a classic pop jam with a very common structure and composition. But rather than being a generic carbon copy of everything else out there, Girl’s Day’s charms surprisingly shine through really, really well. While the production value isn’t the cleanest (where’s the breathing room, guys?), the girls still hit their mark as singers. Each member brings their ‘A’ game and even give us really beautiful streams of melodic moments in the verses and middle eight. It’s cute but honestly done, and I think that’s the greatest achievement for Girl’s Day with this single.

Now, if we could only keep the improvements coming in consistent volumes. That’d be nice.

  1. i freaking love girls day- their songs can be so stupid and catchy that they are up there with t-ara and orange caramel. freaking love them. and then that one song, nothing lasts forever…. GAAAAHHHHH I RUV IT!!!!!!1! this song and vid was kinda cute

i really only know minah cuz minah is one talented person- love her voice.

as a bonus, she’s freaking adorable.

    THAT IS ALL!

    • nuhting nuhting nuhting nuhting nuhting nuhhthing lasssssss~~~~

      love em.

      • they’re really underrated.

they certainly deserve more attention than half of the groups in kpop now. i kinda feel it’s like the same with dalmatian and GLAM (especially glam)

        • OMG my thoughts exactly bish. wae you readin my mind!!!

Dalmatian’s That Man Opposed and E.R. are superb
Despite a barrage of annoying lackluster nugu group debuts since 2011, GLAM is the group that showcases a really good lineup of idols who got what it takes (not necessarily branding them TALENTED this early), but Party(XXO) was a great debut song

    • Oppasapervert

You, you’re alright in my books.

  2. Gah…couldnt help smiling when he helped her raise her arm.

  3. I heart them with a passion. I don’t understand why they aren’t more popular. They’re all cute. Show some personality in interviews. Everyday is Girl’s Day!

    • they are really cute- but unfortunatly the one with curly hair in this mv is a blackhole- the rest of them seem legitimately talented. Minah deserves any success and i think is the reason this group may get big, that and freakin sojin is flawless

  4. I See Seashells on the Seashore

Not one of my favorites, but its okay. I don’t really like the MV, it’s not cool, edgy, or spunky in any way. It’s not atrocious, but dreadfully boring it is.

agree this shit is straight whack
what happen to them, a group is suppose to get better not progressively worse

is it me or every time i click on an article I get Goto Maki’s side boob action?

      • I See Seashells on the Seashore

Bah, I can’t see much on my crappy IPhone. I only see a Goto Maki article posted today. Do you still see it?

  5. I like their song Supa Dupa Diva…
Oh wait, that’s another girl group

  6. This song sounded like a jpop song to me

  7. Yura has just nudged out Yuri to become my number 1 crush.
    such a little fox

    • well Yura is technically better looking in every single way even in the butt department

  8. Still haven’t even listened to one song from them. Also not from A Pink.

Is it worth it to spend my time looking for unblocked videos of those bitches on YouTube?

  9. Yuras outfit by itself should make them popular damn she is looking hot,I like the song

  10. honestly don’t see anything special. minah looks like a feminine version of kwanghee – which is strange since kwanghee is basically feminine. nothing shines about this group which is probably why they are still waddling around in ponds while apink and others have crossed into the sea.

  11. My love for them and A-PINK is freaking me out. Cute and feminine gimmicks are not in my book, but… I can’t help myself.

But you have to admit that this song along with Nothing Lasts Forever are their best songs.

  12. Good review. We probably have the same taste lol.
