Gangnam Clique's "The Cypher 2012" AKA Only Relevant Shit From SBS's Gayo Daejun

GangnamCliqueTheCypher2012

Simon D, Epik High, and Dynamic Duo (Gangnam Clique) basically ripped off “The Cypher” from every BET Hip Hop Awards show … and thank god they did, because the execution of “The Cypher 2012” was the only actual performance I found notable at SBS‘s Gayo Daejun.

  1. This entire performance really did stand out from the rest due to the fact it was made from the love of making music and putting on a show not just making money and showing off. Korean Hip Hop is something special atm and I am really dreading it turning into what it has in the US.

    • ?

It’s already there. These guys aren’t the idol rappers.

Non-mainstream American rap is doing fine.

      • You got a point about all the idol rappers. What non mainstream rap do you like out of the States?

  2. Joe Budden cyphers were classic

  3. After the horribleness of idol rap, it’s always surprising how refreshing good Korean rap is. I really should listen to it more often.

  4. This is something I could show to my friends without being embarassed about it (my little SHINee (Taemin) folder I have on my computer is hidden very well).

  5. Yeah, hip-hop stage was damn good, thank god it was without shitty idol rappers this year. Also, as I remember, MAMA’s hip-hop stage was one of the best too.
But honestly I think I enjoyed this Gayo Daejun. It was so much better than KBS Gayo Daejun, I actually liked a few performances this time. Big Bang was entertaining, SM the Performance was surprisingly good (it was so much better than that Maxstep shit, but still have no idea what Minho was doing in this unit). I also kinda liked BAP, EXO, “K-Pop Star” rookies, MBLAQ, Bora’s dance and some others.
But damn, how bad Super Junior was. Maybe the worst performance of the night

    • Donghae’s tissue dance was fucking weird though.

Taemin was perfect of course. Too bad his pants didn’t rip at that performance as well.

    • The SBS Gayo was definitely much better than the KBS one. There were some good performances – BigBang, the aforementioned group. And yes Super Junior looked bad, it seemed like they didn’t want to be there, I have a feeling most of them now prefer their side jobs (mcing, variety, radio show etc) to actual performing. I don’t blame them; whatever peons they earn after SM deducts their share, they have to split 12-15 ways, Sheet ain’t nobody got time for that.

Also, I think I can say this safely on here, without worrying about being flamed to kingdom come, but can we all admit that the current TVXQ suck LIVE. They look so old and out of place, it’s like watching NKOB trying to shake their groove thing in a Justin Bieber world. After seeing the crowd reaction to BigBang, BAP and some of the other groups, it just seemed so sad. I am not sure if it is them that suck, or if it is just impossible to have a boy band with just 2 members. There is no amount of padding with back up dancers, light gimmicks, auto tune etc. that can cover up their weaknesses.

      • the worst part of super junior’s dance is the floor sequence.

tvxq seems like they are still trying to do 5-member things with only 2. i would say maybe they should perform more ballads but those aren’t really good either.

      • To be honest I don’t think TVXQ has ever performed a song live this year. I’ve noticed at some times that they have a backtrack with live vocals but they don’t sing it live D: Their vocals just aren’t as good as JYJ’s. Last year was way better for them I’m sorry to say…

      • It seems like I’m one of the few people who like TVXQ that way. And I really like their performances… Dunno, I think they are one of the best idols in terms of singing live, they always are stable even with their hard dancing routines (which I also like). Too bad they lipsync a lot lately (fuck you SM for that), but when they don’t they sound really good. And I prefer their songs to JYJ’s for some reason (well, Catch Me was mediocre, but I liked KYHD (except of Yunho’s rap) and Humanoids).
For me it was their performance which was boring – nothing new, the same as their performances when they were promoting that song

    • when is taemin officially going to surpass yunho and eunhyuk and become SM’s lead dancer?? i am tired of everyone pretending those two are the best.

      • I love you.

Please, have the most innocent sex with the most innocent person on here.

        • what if i am also the most innocent person on here what happens then…

          • Then the 2 most innocent people on here have some sex comparable to 2 virgin people banging for the first time.

Isn’t that fucking romantic? Gonna penetrate my anus with the little baby jesus butt plug I have found online while thinking about that.

      • I think that SM Spectrum thing kind of proved that point. Because of the TVXQ legend, a lot of people are sidestepping the elephant in the room (no pun intended) that Yunho has gotten kind of, how can I say it delicately, fat, bigger? He cannot freestyle for nothing, and his dance moves are the same dance moves he has been doing since, X-Man was the premier variety show. Hand motions and waves, a little random jumping, end scene.

        • maybe yunho should go on another figure skating variety show to get back in shape.

  6. Wow, where does the audience go? I remember gayo daejuns used to have much bigger crowd

    • Probably didn’t want the crazy fan girls and boys to throw used condoms / tampons / underwear / whatever on the stage.

That’s the first thing I would try to do at a live broadcast. A bag of used dildos directly into Taemin’s face. And then take my shirt off to finally show Korea some tits on television.

    • It’s gotten smaller, since the stations decided to make the Gayos all about Kpop and most of the groups just rehashed their comeback stages that fans have seen over and over again. At least this year, SBS did try and include other genres and spice things up a bit.

  7. Damn, that was… That was really good. And I always enjoy looking at Tablo’s face, but that was just a bonus this time.

    • You’re right. Tablo looks really fucking hot in the first video. Also he is intelligent and needs some love after that shit he had to go through.
      My vagina is ready.

    • I liked his face too. And Simon D’s. I think he’s handsome and hot as hell. Never got why they were often making fun of Simon D’s looks on varieties. And Tablo himself thinks he’s ugly for some reason(

  8. This stage + BIGBANG’s and the Kpop star rookies singing mercy together was relevant. Bora’s dance was good, the dubstep at the beginning was a bit of an iffy choice though, but I’d love to see more contemporary dance within KPop, not like it could happen, but a girl can dream~ BAP was another highlight — every one else was pretty bad.

Poor T-ara though, they really didn’t want to be there. But it was better than KBS

    • haha “the dubstep at the beginning was a bit of an iffy choice though”, just goes to show kpop takes anything trending and sticks it wherever they want. They better learn from Touliver on how to do dubstep, skrillex can suck my hemorrhoids.

  9. But this didn’t copy BET Cyphers at all… except that it was prerecorded. it also seemed that their lip-syncing was off at times. Why did they call it a Cypher when it wasn’t at all.
That aside, the song sounded good.

  10. why did they use prerecorded track for it? Still one of the best parts of the show but kinda takes away from the cypher

  11. mybiasbeatsyourbias

I laugh when I saw this cause the Cypher is from the BET Hip Hop awards, kpop fuck off it.

      • mybiasbeatsyourbias

I know but if K-hip hop get its own award show it”ll be a YG troll event. Even though none of those assholes under that label does hip hop anymore. Basically that Cypher was an opportunity for more shitty Epik High defecating on the mic.

  12. I really like k-hip hop because they can perform like real people. They don’t need coreography, they just walk around and rap and are full of swag. Loved the performance!

And yeah, SuJu totally sucked. Yesung’s hat gave me at least half an hour of laughter, though.

    • mybiasbeatsyourbias

SuJu never look so rainbow, I couldn’t get enough of SM The Performance, I spell failure

  13. I couldn’t handle myself. That performance was so good. I don’t even know which rapper I like the best. At least their mics didn’t fuck up like it did for some last year. That’s some real Korean rapping right there.
