So … did Shin Se Kyung have plastic surgery or not?

ShinSeKyungPlasticSurgery

A recent topic of discussion is whether actress Shin Se Kyung cut her face up, especially after her appearance on KBS 2TV‘s “Entertainment Relay“.

Netizens compared her recent appearance with past images, pointing out she now seems to possess thicker double eyelids, a perfect V-line jaw, as well as plumper cheeks. Some commented, “Did she get plastic surgery?”, “Something’s changed”, “Her pictures surprised me because I couldn’t recognize her”, and “She’s lost her original charms.”

Her representatives, of course, denied it.

Representatives of the actress followed up shortly after with a statement explaining, “She did not get any plastic surgery. She got surgery to erase the scars on her face. She originally had scars on both sides of her cheeks that looked like nail scratch marks. She merely had them removed during her hiatus.”

The representative continued, “The scars could be too easily seen on HD TV, and this surgery was more difficult than the average surgery involving just the use of laser. Her surgery required that part of the skin be torn and lifted. In the process of recovery, her skin swelled, which accounts for her cheeks looking more plump.”

When asked how severe the scars on her face were, he replied, “The scars were deep, and they were caught on the HD cameras no matter what we tried. She mentioned that she had a hard time auditioning when she was younger because of them. She put it off because it wasn’t an easy surgery and finally just used the time during her hiatus to get them removed.”

Concluding the explanation, he stated, “It hasn’t been that long since she had the surgery. If she had really gotten plastic surgery done, she wouldn’t have shot a CF, much less appear on ‘Entertainment Relay’.”

It shouldn’t shock you that netizens thought she had undergone a procedure, as they will speculate on just about anything.

1. [+469, -54] Double eye lid surgery + jaw ㅋㅋㅋ as well as some fat under her eyes. I could tell right away after seeing Entertainment Relay.

2. [+426, -57] She can’t even use weight loss as an excuse for this ㅋㅋㅋ Since she’s been on hiatus for so long, looks like she went and got everything fixed…

3. [+280, -38] I see a bit of Kim Nayoung in her ㅠㅠㅠ Oh no ㅠㅠ

1. [+782, -115] I was wondering why she wasn’t getting rid of those scars, looks like she finally did. For an actress, they were really apparent on screen.

2. [+787, -365] So she only got rid of her scars but all of a sudden there are aegyo fat under her eyes, thicker double eyelids, and a thinner jaw line. I don’t even think she can close her eyes properly at this rate.

3. [+663, -322] ㅋㅋㅋ Let’s not forget the thicker double eyelids and the fat transplant under her eyes ㅋㅋㅋ

So they’re known to overreact to slight differences in angles, photoshop, and lighting, but I generally don’t … and I gotta say she looks different.

Sort of like the Lee Da Hee thing where you just look at it and say, “Gee, something is … uh … off.

What say you?

  1. I too look a little different when I smile, maybe I had ps and don’t remember

  2. Aside from the fact that she looks different , the half-assed denial by her agency (“Uh, yes – she DID get surgery, but it isn’t what you think”) makes the claim that she didn’t get any real work done less believable.

  3. I honestly don’t see shit when comparing those pictures. For me it’s only the nose that looks different but that wasn’t even questioned – could also be the angle.

Wait, that was a lie. I see the ridiculous oily make up that the Korean entertainment world seems to be into lately. Is it supposed to make them appear more younger because their skin is “glowing” or are they supposed to look like hungover highschool students in their puberty suffering from all the sebum going wild on their face?

So are there better pictures to compare because judging from those I don’t think anything was done. But not everyone turns into a Park Bom so who knows.

I’m honestly having a hard time telling which is before and which is after. She looks the same to me. Maybe a bit thinner? I’m clearly not good at this game. More penis articles please.

  5. perhaps we had comparable shots and lighting we could tell ?!?!?!

  6. Her cheeks might be plumper because, oh i don’t know, she’s smiling?????

jfc I thought Koreans were the intelligent ones. Though, I’m sure netizens don’t spend their majority of time studying.

  7. I dunno, she looks the same

  8. Why don’t agencies EVER tell the truth??? -.-
    She does look different…
LOL I didn’t know oily make up was a trend…
I have an oily face by nature T__T

    • Lots of people do. =)

A little powder does wonders. You don’t need to use a lot.

      • WHAT IS THIS No_Min?!!???!?!?!? WHERE ARE YOUR FILTHY POSTS!??!?! >:O
        LOL jk jk
Actually I was wondering why it became a trend to have oily make up.
Just like why is it a trend to have tan skin…I got it by nature too XD (except people hate my ethnic group T_T)

  9. Looks the same to me *shrug*

  10. I say it’s harder to describe the color yellow to a blind man

  11. Company explanation is nicely detailed, seems legit and certainly correlates with photos. Netizens need to stop being little bitches whining ‘conspiracy’ every time a company releases a statement. They should be grateful the company said anything at all because it’s frankly not their business anyway.

  12. I hate when they have pictures where the angles and expressions aren’t even the same. USELESS, I SAY!

People do this all the time.
Specially whe they pick a photo of a 6 years old idol took in bright sunlight and then pick a photo of them when they are like 21 years old, with shit tonts of make up, special lights and photoshop. HOW the fuck do you expect them to look exactly the same?

Yes, I do believe that most celebrities had something done (not that I care or bash them for it). But at least pick better pics to compare, damn it.

  13. It seems to me like she got aegyo-sal for her eyes (a horrible trend btw that should just die in a fire… they are going to regret having that when they are 50+) and a rounder chin.

  14. OppirsRFlawless

I dont get it, why Korean think that having such eyebag is considered cute???
Won’t it makes us look tired and sleep deprived????

  15. oh lookie, plastic surgery experts

  16. Why is it a big deal? I thought in Korea, it was a perfectly normal thing to get things fixed and most people (women?) do it at least once in their lifetime…

    • Yourbiasisshit

Yes it is common, but there is nothing more praised than “natural beauty”.

That’s the same reason why people tend to lie about how much they take care of their skin, hair, weight, bodyshape etc. rather than admit that they use shit tons of products, diet and hit the gym every-freakin-day.

  17. Okay, I googled aegyo sal (never heard about that surgery before) and for me it looks not as bad as you guys pictured it here. Yes, some pictures were horrible, but I think it was just done badly, because I saw many good examples, where people looked younger and their eyes looked bigger after surgery. And if it was good work (if they aren’t too big and thick), those things under eyes don’t look like eyebags.
And it looks like most of Korean actresses have them

    • seohyun’s are outta control and need to be contained. i dunno if that’s “natural” or not, but WOWZERS!!!

maybe that’s all part of the innocent thing. she needs to break out and go cray cray or forever be known as seobot

  18. eh, maybe. hard to tell. i also couldn’t care less about whether someone has plastic surgery, to each their own.

  19. She definitely got some kind of cheek/chin lift/implant, I don’t really know much about PS but it looks like that to me. And lol at korean entertainment agencies and their plastic surgeries story tellings.

I want Brown Eyed Girls to be my plastic surgeons.

  21. Why do people give a shit?

  22. Only thing that looks different is her chin – but the angle is different, so, netizens are idiots and need better photos.

  23. uhyeah she did. the fat under her eyes is the most visible one. i don’t know about the jawline tho, i never really pay attention to her.
in case if all of you don’t know, fat under eyes is one of surgery. koreans usually got it to make eyes looks bigger

  24. Having scars removed is still plastic surgery, girl. D:

  25. These dumb bitches. When you smile you tend to get those aeygo-sal under your eyes and goes away when you have a straight face…well some people do get this.
I don’t know about the jaw reduction, but how can you fucking tell when the angles are different?

  26. I think people are a bit too eager to slam netizens on this one. It’s hard to make a judgement from the pictures here, but this article is just a summary, and it’s pretty easy to find the out-and-out *dissertation* netizens have written and all the pictures they’ve compared and make the judgement for yourself. Having checked that out on netizen buzz I believe it, and I’m a pretty big PS denier.

Let’s face it, no asian looks the way she does unless she were mixed.

  28. At first I could not tell but the more I look the more I see it. Not too bad of a surgery. As long as she doesn’t go the Park Bom route.
