Either tVN completely blacked out for the majority of 2012 or the thought of “Nation’s Little Sister” (IU) getting her wizard sleeve pummeled by what looks like a half-man, half-elf woman thing (Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk) was a ton more traumatizing than I thought, because they named that “scandal” the worst of 2012.
As you would expect, that fucking blows my mind, because there was basically nothing scandalous about it other than the fact that she may or may not have been fucking a dude.

Off the top of my head, in maybe 10-15 minutes, here’s the shit that I found that was more “WHAT THE FUCK” to me than IU/Eunhyuk’s “scandal”.

1) Open World Entertainment‘s CEO accused and convicted of raping idols and trainees.
2) Seo Taiji and Lee Ji Ah hide their marriage for years but get exposed when they file for divorce. Jung Woo Sung and a cockload of other celebrities pulled into the mix.
3) Core Contents Media, T-ara, and Hwayoung bullying/expulsion controversy.
4) Han Sung Joo gets pummeled on video.
5) Roo’ra‘s Go Young Wook accused of rape, admits to having sex with multiple women, but charges dropped.
6) COOL‘s Yuri gets declared murdered by mistake.
7) Psy‘s “anti-American” past gets exposed.
8) 2PM‘s Nichkhun truck-sticking some dude with his car while drunk.
9) JYJ‘s Yoochun and Jaejoong having a female sasaeng fan bitch-slapping contest.
10) MBC‘s “Quiz To Change The World” prances around in blackface for comedy and apologizes.
11) Block B‘s Thailand clusterfuck.
12) Big Bang‘s Seungri‘s will throw you a towel after he jizzes on you and is into S&M.

That’s already 12 things I gave infinitely more shits about than fucking IU maybe or maybe not boning Eunhyuk on the regular. Even if you want to quibble with a few, certainly you have to be delusional to pick them as your “TOP SCANDAL OF THE YEAR!”

I’m just glad that Block B’s Thailand controversy is apparently too irrelevant for them to list. So far, out of the couple of “worst scandals of 2012″ lists that have come out from the K-netizen/K-journalist front, none have mentioned Block B.
IU was “nation’s little sister” so the belief that she sleeps with half-elven lads either a) appalled them at how she could be into bestiality or b) has now shattered the myth of South Korea’s land-of-the-pure image. The repercussions of either are paramount…
…just kidding.
The incident is probably fresh in their minds but it seems that a lot of netizens haven’t forgotten the T-ara scandal. Personally I think that a foreigner ramming into a SK citizen and getting the pass for it should be the most scandalous even when putting my bias against Nichkhun aside.

I think 2012 was one of the most scandalous years in K-pop. At least that I can remember. And IU and Eunhyuk doing what a shit ton of other people their age are doing doesn’t even come close to topping the list. Smh.

Glad to see you put Open World at #1. Open World CEO’s scandal was definitely the biggest and certainly the most disgusting scandal as well as the one with the most disturbing implications for the industry (i.e highly likely that plenty of the perpetrators involved are still out there making music) and well as the only one in the entire list that could be reasonably argued is even anyone’s legitimate business to care about at all as opposed to just nosy prying into people’s personal lives – but oddly both the media AND netizens barely even gave a shit compared to anything else on that list.
(Just also like to say something overdue: that I love this blog long time as it’s the only one I’ve found that actually posts anything I even remotely agree with instead of sucking the dick of netizens all day. The only blog I’ve seen to appropriately question silly bias-ridden Korean pop media AND stupid sheeple netizens. Keep up the good work.)
