In plié, isn’t there a whole lot of stress put on the knee – especially in grand plié? Or does your length strength prevent hurting your knees?
The leg strength prevents you from hurting your knees. Since you are turning out your legs, different muscles are stretched and the weight of your body isn’t placed entirely on your knees. Another reason you have to keep a straight back: if you lean forward, all your weight is on your knees, which does mess them up. However, the plié stretches the muscle there so that when you jump, you can get higher, and so when you land, you have control. If you just land feet flat on the ground, THAT will mess up your knees BADLY. By softly landing with the ball of your foot and rolling into the heel, your knees are not impacted so hard. The pliés help immensely with that since it trains you to have that control over the tendons. Grand pliés in general are really placing the weight on your heels and your spine.

I just registered an account to express my disappointment in the fact that you used the gifs I made instead of just making your own from scratch. I put quite some time in moving frames around to get a smoother loop where background moves less and you just used those frames while cutting out the watermark. It literally takes 30 seconds to make a standard gif without moving frames around. Disappointing.
It’s not like I’m going to stop reading or throw a hissy fit over it. Just putting it out there, keep making awesome articles.
I generally don’t make any of the GIFS you find here, though I would if so many weren’t posted on message boards as it is.

Sorry for accusing you if it wasn’t actually you cutting out the watermarks cutting down on frames.
It’s unmistakably the gifs I made though since I specifically moved the frames in the second one to make the window frame barely moving, same with the floor boards in third one. The crotch scene was also moved way to the right to get the full view and cut down on excess background while keeping the first scene for a better loop.
It’s just discouraging to keep making gifs when people cut out the watermark that’s there for a reason. Again, sorry if it wasn’t you doing it.
