Ulala Session’s Yoon Taek, who netizens accused of faking cancer, died … and is being mocked

YoonTaek

In July of last year I published a story on netizens basically saying that Ulala Session‘s Yoon Taek was faking stage four stomach cancer, which is just as ridiculous as it sounds.

Well, unfortunately, he has recently died of the ailment, and as anybody who has lost a loved one to cancer knows, it’s not the prettiest process.

Ulala Session‘s Lim Yoon Taek has passed away.

The leader of the band that won Superstar K3 had long been suffering from cancer. It has been revealed that he died on the evening of February 11th KST.

Lim Yoon Taek had also gotten married just last year, and had a daughter last October.

So, in a way, he proved them wrong, right? So surely they have let up?

Nope.

In one post, the OP pretends to be his wife under the title “My husband has left me” and after several of their wedding photos, writes, “but I received $1 million USD in return.”

In another, the OP posted a photo of the late president Roh Moo Hyun saying, “Are you the newcomer? Sing a song for me.” (Seniors will often welcome newcomers into work/army/groups/etc by asking them to show off a talent they’re good at. The OP is basically roleplaying Roh Moo Hyun greeting Im Yoon Taek in the afterworld.)

This is typical behavior of those in the witch hunt mentality. Typical of those who rush to a conclusion they want to be true, as they become so invested in it that even when they’re confronted by facts they continue to persist with their delusions because it’s easier than admitting they’re wrong.

It’s pathological, really. And, in this case, just disgusting.

  1. Cancer is a horrible disease to have. Your family and you are basically watching how you wither away, a little bit every day. How senseless and stupid do you have to be to mock someones death, that I know must have been long and painful?
    Wtf, netizens. Wtf.

    • I went through something similar with my family 3 years ago when my sister got cancer. People at her job spread rumors that she didn’t have cancer because she was still being active and enjoying life. Who the hell would pretend to have a terrible disease people!!! Even after 3 years she still gets people asking her if she really had cancer……… Idiots just don’t seem to give it a rest. My thoughts are with his family though, especially the wife and daughter.

  2. stupid people are everywere, i’m just sorry for his wife and daughter…

  4. So sad to see this is happening nowadays.

  5. I remember when the story first came out.
He actually had to go and try to convince people about the whole “dying”thing.
How much of an asshole do you have to be to even mock someones death

    • NANA'snumber1bish

Seconded. Some people really need to reevaluate themselves if mocking a man who has passed on is fun or justifiable in their minds.

  6. Just to put this in perspective, I believe this “Ilbe” site where the comments are being posted is sort of the Korean equivalent of 4chan.

I’m kinda surprised it gets any press at all.

Imagine if CNN published an article every time some troll on 4chan posted an offensive comment.

    • Or hell – even the Yahoo News comments section. Ever browse through that shit? Imagine if American news sites published articles about comments written by those “netizens”.

Just quit feeding the trolls, Korea.

    • Or Youtube comments.

I really hope all those comments of “Global warming is just a government hoax” were a joke. I really, really do.

    • People always say this, but those comments are shrugged off in America. In Korea, they actually give a fuck. Thus it does matter.

      • Unrealistic to think that trolls are going to stop being trolls.

Thus, the only “solution” to this is to ignore them.

        • Logically, sure, but there’s a difference between reality and what should happen if sane people ran the world.

          • Agreed, but if anything is going to change, it has to start with Korea aiming for higher journalistic standards.

If a major American news outlet ran a story like this, Americans reading it would be outraged as well. They typically don’t, though. Otherwise there would be an article every day along the lines of, “Netizens Call President an N-word”.

          • Yeah, preaching to the choir there.

I think American journalism sucks, much less this shit.

  7. Can’t accept that they were wrong no matter what.

  8. Damn, netizens can be on the same low level as the Westboro Baptist Church sometimes.

  9. I still remember all the BS this guy had to go through for this already. He’s at his death bed and the netizens are still at it. Is sad.

  10. I never had much faith in humanity, but this is all kinds of sickening. Earth to netizens! Cancer is a real disease. It kills people. It’s not like Chicken Pox where you’re uncomfortable for a while and never have to worry about it again. Just because someone’s not bound to a hospital bed, bald from radiation, without a limb or their breasts, and is still living their lives doesn’t make their condition any less truthful. As much as I want to say: blame MVs (who’s the one who always “cheats” and leaves their significant other or acts like a yandere until they’re breathing their last breath? the cancer patient) and Hollywood (because according to Hollywood, you have a 95% survival rate from even the worst cancers at their final stages) for sensationalizing the disease, I can’t. As toxic as the media can be with the way it trivializes the disease, it doesn’t teach you to mock, berate, and belittle people when they truly die. Nothing can teach or influence someone to be an asshole, but themselves.

  11. I really don’t have words for this…
