Yoon Se Yoon of MBC‘s “Knee Drop Guru” apologized to viewers recently, though not SMAP‘s Kusanagi Tsuyoshi himself, for his monkey imitation that was called out as racist by viewers.
“The monkey imitation was a part of the ‘Knee-Drop Guru’ script. The show is characteristically known for bringing about laughter with loud shouting techniques. Also, the monkey is an imitation that Yoo Se Yoon considers his best personal talent, which is why he did it on the show. There was no intention to insult the guest, but we do admit that we did not foresee the criticisms that this would ultimately bring about. We apologize to those who felt uncomfortable over it.”

There are moments in everybody’s life when you pause and re-evaluate what you’re doing with it.
That right there is one of those moments.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
Looks demented in that picture.
Wait…I dont get it. Who was the guest that this was offensive?
I’ll give you a hint, it’s one of the names in the article.
Yeah just read this:

I feel retarded cause I still don’t get it
I’ll spell it out for you: they had a Japanese dude on the show and one of the hosts/mcs/whatever did a monkey impersonation. Calling Japanese monkeys is a favorite pastime for Korea, right up there with DOKDO DOKDO DOKDO DOKDO DOKDO DOKDO

IAR is a funny dude lol
Maybe you need to try to be more culturally sensitive to our robot friends. :::….:D
I agree! The fact you don’t understand him doesn’t give you the right to call him or his post pointless! That’s racist and therefore I demand a public apology.
Robot is spam as far as I’m concerned. End it.
He’s funny tho… Well, kinda……
LEAVE HIM ALONE!
Leave “it” alone.
“There are moments in everybody’s life when you pause and re-evaluate what you’re doing with it.”
I sleep 6 hours a day.
I think about cocks 16 hours a day.
The rest of the time I do exactly what you have said in that statement.

Off Topic: I know I give lots of flak to f(x). They’re the most garbage mainstream group in kpop and its doesn’t help that they’re ugly too. But their song Mr. Boogie goes. Like Steven A Smith says..”A broken clock is right twice a day”, so I guess f(x) can put out a decent song every 5-8 years
With that said, it feels like I just donated to charity
A black charity because lawd knows they need all the help they can get lol
Black person here to say: not laughing cause you not funny, bish.
Angry black person
Please don’t quote SAS. Ever.
He’s a funny dude
Robot speaks!
I think IATFB just inadvertently programmed the robot to compliment and quote Stephen A. Smith from now on.
Aww. Well the braille thing was fun while it lasted…
Why not?
Because he’s an idiot.
I just like the attribution of a quote said by basically everybody since forever to Stephen A. Smith specifically.
And Elvis didn’t invent rock & roll but they still credit him the king…
Don’t get so up tight about

Y’know, I’m starting to think that South Korea just DGAF. I mean, is there not an investigative screening team on these shows on what is and what isn’t fucking cool? Like a “Historical Reasons Why Blackface Is Rude Squad”or “Japanese Insults Consultant Group”? lol
I mean, I know what not to do around Koreans or Arabians, etc., the same should be reciprocated for everyone, right?
Not sure why one would expect a homogenous society to have the same awareness as a multi-cultural society.
It’s still wrong, and in this case he knew damn well what the implications were, but just saying.
The apology quote seems believable to me.
I doubt they would invite a respected Japanese guest on their show just to insult him. It was likely just a poor stab at humor that just ended up appearing racist in the context of that specific situation. Thus, it slipped through.
And I don’t kick it with Saudis on a daily basis, but I know not to show them the bottom of my shoe. Just saying. Homogenous or not, the world isn’t a unconnected anymore. And it’s not like there aren’t ANY black people in SK.
However, I get where you’re coming from and I agree with mcf. His apology seemed sincere and I highly doubt he meant to be mean.
This was meant to be a reply to IATFB.
Because our media covers it because we’re a multi-cultural society. We have a ton of Muslims in America.
How many in Korea?
Again, same point.
As Americans, we are racist, we discriminate, and we are xenophobic … but we actively try not to be and we have discussions out in the open. People put their points of views out there. Fact of the matter is that it happens far less in homogenous societies.
