Sooyoung hints/trolls about SNSD sub-unit ‘SHY’ that would also feature Hyoyeon & Yuri

All it takes is one little hashtag to send SONEs into a tizzy, and that’s what happened on Apr. 7 when Sooyoung posted an Instagram video of herself with Hyoyeon and Yuri along with the hashtags “#SHY“, “#catchGG“, and “#D-3“.

Of particular interest to fans was #SHY (short for Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, and Yuri), which is also a totally not real sub-unit that some fans have apparently been wanting for awhile now.

A sub-unit of Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, and Yuri would have some fairly obvious strengths and glaringly obvious weaknesses. On the one hand, the group would be lacking a very good singer. For all that Sooyoung, Yuri, and Hyoyeon bring to the table, it is no accident that they are often relegated to getting the fewest amount of lines in any given SNSD song. On the other hand, the trio are SNSD’s best dancers and that could provide a strong template for a sub-unit that is unique from the SNSD brand.

The fact that Sooyoung appears to have acknowledged the totally not real sub-unit should stoke the speculative flames, and it may be a hint of SM Entertainment’s desire to squeeze every last drop out of SNSD. Or it could be shameless fanservice/trolling of fans and complete, total, utter bullshit.

Who knows?! That’s why this stuff is fun.

At the very least, SHY is an infinitely better group name than TaeTiSeo, so this totally not confirmed sub-unit has at least that going for it.
