GOT7’s Mark issues apology to fans following being roped into drama between broadcast jockeys

Mark of GOT7 has issued a vague apology recently on the fan message board for the group and JYP Entertainment followed that by threatening legal action against those spreading rumors.

Hello. This is Mark. First, I sincerely thank the fans who support and love us GOT7. And I want to say I’m sorry. I’m sincerely sorry for hurting the fans’ hearts and disappointing you. I know all too well what the fans are disappointed about, and I’m going to try my best so that nothing like this happens again. I’ll work hard every day so that the fans’ hearts won’t be hurt anymore and become a more improved Mark. I’m sorry once again.

The fact that the apology happened makes the issue bigger than I personally anticipated, as it was officially addressed after JYPE seemingly hoped it would fade out of the news.

So what is this? As far as we know, it’s basically about drama between broadcast jockeys (BJs), and Mark just happened to kinda get caught in the middle after it was revealed in the process that he was connected to a female BJ in the past.

The mess between the BJs is complicated, but I’ll try to simply that part since I assume nobody cares. Basically, this started when BJ Woo Chang Bum (VERMUDA‘s U) accused BJ Yeolmae of cheating on him with BJ Kei, and BJ Yeolmae responded by accusing him of cheating on her as well and implying that he was sharing sex videos of them in a Burning Sun molka chatroom. BJ Woo Chang Bum denied both having cheated on BJ Yeolmae and that he shared a video of the two in a chat, but did acknowledge a sex tape of them exists but says it was consensual.

When BJ Yeolmae was making her accusations, she shared a screenshot of a chat where she mentioned Mark’s name, specifically talking about him dating BJ Ahyeong.

“I introduced BJ Ahyoung to GOT7’s Mark. Mark paid for her monthly rent, lease fees, gave her a credit card, and bought her designer items, so Mark really didn’t do anything wrong.”

BJ Woo Chang Bum also said that Mark didn’t have anything to do with their beef.

Regarding an individual named Mark that was mentioned in the KakaoTalk messages, he clarified, “I think she mentioned him by accident. Mark has nothing to do with this.”

In a follow-up broadcast, BJ Yeolmae apologized for cheating on BJ Woo Chang Bum with BJ Kei, but continued to say that BJ Woo Chang Bum had cheated on her, sharing messages she received from other women. One women alleged that he had taken molka and leaked it, and BJ Yeolmae accused him of threatening her with their sex video, though she did appear to walk back any connection with the Burning Sun molka chatroom. BJ Woo Chang Bum responded during his own broadcast denying any connection to those Burning Sun molka chatrooms.

As you can see, most of that has nothing to do with Mark. So essentially it comes down to it being outed that he had been seeing BJ Ahyeong, who in addition to being a ‘titty streamer’ also allegedly does more adult cam stuff.

When contacted by a fan, BJ Ahyeong apologized and explained things.

OP: It’s true that Mark did it, but can you let me know more about it?
X: This is not it. I’m very sorry towards the fans. It wasn’t even a club, even if I really met with that person, we’re not friends anymore. I feel nothing but apologetic towards him for harming him. You can screenshot this if you want. I’ve been doing broadcast on the internet for years already and I’ve always lived my life using the money I make for myself so I have nothing to be ashamed of. This person is really the victim here … I’m so sorry towards his fans. I’ve never done anything like Lovestagram, I’ve never leaked any Katalks chat and I’ve never been associated with Burning Sun. Mark is definitely the victim here. I’m very sorry.

OP: How often did you guys meet and how did you guys end up meeting each other?
X: We haven’t been seeing each other for a long time, so we just grew distant naturally. I haven’t been contacting him and we’re not in a relationship where we keep in touch with each other either. I’m sorry for stirring the water like that. I thought that I wasn’t in position to release a clarification post over this issue, so I’m sending you DMs instead. I’m not a BJ that strips, but I know that my job used to be embarrassing to me, that’s why I am apologetic. The talks about this person giving me money or being my sponsor were all rumors. Sorry.

X: Right now, I’m sending Katalks with BJ Yeolmae and we have resolved our personal issues. This person’s mental state is currently hurting and since we’ve stopped contacting each other, they don’t know about my relationship with Mark. They acknowledge their faults about what they acknowledged during the broadcast. I’m very sorry towards the fans. I’m personally dealing with legal actions right now and Mark definitely has nothing to do with the Burning Sun, and he’s not even close with BJ Yeolmae either. Although BJ Yeolmae and Mark occasionally Katalk with each other and contact each other, they were never close. I’m very sorry for causing all this trouble so I apologize … BJ Yeolmae will refrain from mentioning Mark in the future on her broadcast, everything were just rumors. Because of his busy schedule, we just grew apart and I even had another boyfriend after this, but BJ Yeolmae wasn’t aware of this. Once again, I apologize.

X: Yes, it was really a misunderstanding. I know that I use all the money that I earned myself for my daily life, so I’m not related to that person. I understand how fans can be hurt by this. Tat’s why I couldn’t just expose everything in one go. I have to do with that person. Because of that, I ruined his image and I’m sorry about it. I seriously don’t have anything to do with this incident. Sorry for not being able to release anything regarding this. I really hope that this issue gets resolved … I really don’t contact this person and I’ve never contacted them again.

So basically, the concern initially was that Mark was somehow connected to the Burning Sun mess, but as far as we know that is completely false.

Rather in a mess between three BJs, Mark and another BJ that he hung out with (or whatever he did with her, doesn’t matter) got dragged in. Personally, I didn’t cover this story initially cause it didn’t seem like a big deal to me, but despite what international fans are trying to do in terms of covering this up, the fact that he released a public apology is a sign of how pissed Korean fans are at the moment.

I do kinda understand their concerns, but as far as we know right now, it’s hard not to see this as just them being upset because they believe innocent oppar was connected with a woman who does adult-orienting streaming (and whatever else).
