While I was peacefully taking a nap, BTS‘s Jungkook got caught up in dating rumors over a picture of a picture on a phone that was apparently taken from CCTV.
The rumor spread fast enough that Big Hit Entertainment deemed it worthy of addressing, saying that it is Jungkook in the picture but that it’s not his girlfriend.
Big Hit Entertainment clearly states that the claims about our artist Jungkook that are being spread on social media and online communities are not true. While in Geoje Island during his period of rest, he found out that his acquaintances from a tattoo shop were also visiting the area. He then met with his tattoo shop acquaintances and other acquaintances from Geoje Island for a meal and had a karaoke session. This is the truth that has been distorted. We think it is unfortunate that [Jungkook’s] personal daily life during his period of rest became known in a distorted way. We will figure out whether CCTV footage was leaked or if there was illegal filming and take strong legal action against the disclosure of personal information and invasion of privacy. Furthermore, we announce that we will also take legal action against the spread of false rumors.
Alrighty.
But most amusingly (or terrible for him), rapper Hash Swan has somehow been roped into all this.
Some people began speculating online that the man in the photo was Hash Swan and not Jungkook, as the original post had claimed. Hash Swan then took to Instagram to clarify that he was not the man in the photo. The rapper posted the photo in question and wrote, “This isn’t me. I’m [saying this] because so many people are asking me about it.” Later, after receiving requests to remove the photo, he deleted his post.
This was definitely going on, but by addressing it, he just got more hate.
Tweet: “You’re not being mistaken for Jungkook because of your looks. It’s only because of your similar hairstyle so don’t you dare talk about looking like Jungkook in your next lyrics. Firstly, it’s definitely not true … I’m a fan of Jungkook’s face.”
Hash Swan: “I’ve stopped using Twitter when I was 17. I never searched my name on this either. You guys just started dragging an innocent person into it and asked if the person in the photo was me. I just answered no ㅋㅋㅋ Do I deserve to read something like thisㅋㅋ”
Tweet: “I bet that Hash Swan guy is gunna start writing lyrics like I told I look like BTS’s Jungkook”
Hash Swan: “No, look here. I don’t plan on using the name of an artist who’s doing well abroad. I’m not a stupid f*cker like you so I have a lot more things to talk about you idiot”
Eventually it got to the point where he got out of Instagram Stories and posted a statement on Instagram.
“Let’s stop. I don’t like these distorted reports. I’m a person who makes music, and I don’t like that I’m being talked about for these kinds of reasons.
I saw it all:
– People who cheered me on through hashtags
– People who felt sorry [for me] even though they hadn’t done anything wrong
– People who said, “Since things turned out this way, let’s just blame it all on him, hehe”
– People who said, “Oh, if it wasn’t [you], never mind”
– All the other people as well.
Truly, it seems like people lead their lives in so many different ways.
Thank you so much to the people who expressed that they were sorry by tagging my name on Twitter, as well as the people who cheered me on by sending me DMs on Instagram telling me to find strength and not to pay any attention [to the haters]. I’m trying to think of this [in a positive way,] as a chance for me to realize that there are more people who like and care about me than I thought. I know that no matter what, as you say these things, there will be people who find a way to contemptuously make fun of and laugh at me for reasons that I can’t even imagine. So let’s stop. You guys go about your own business, and I’ll continue to make my music. If, someday, you see me on the music sites you guys use, I hope you’ll at least be happy to see me. I’m getting kind of exhausted. Honestly, I really haven’t done anything wrong, hehehehe. I’m mad at myself for getting mad. So please, let’s just stop all of this. All of us. Please.

Update
The tattoo artist in the photo has also denied being in a relationship with Jungkook.
I am absolutely not in a relationship with Jungkook. I am posting this because of the words spreading online and the unfortunate situation of people causing misunderstandings by impersonating me. I didn’t say anything because it was the obvious truth that people would not believe me, interpret [my words] as they wish, and that I would receive even harsher replies. I would like to once again state that it is absolutely not true that I am dating Jungkook or that I tattooed my initials on him. We are simply close friends, and I am very apologetic as it seems that fans were extremely hurt in addition to myself and people around me. I will not say anything further. I would just like to make it clear that I was not ignoring or disregarding everything.
The fear in all these statements is palpable.
