Seungri arrest warrant denied again, deemed unnecessary by judge

Following the initial rejection of the arrest warrant last year, prosecution recently filed again after adding charges. However, the arrest warrant for Seungri was deemed unnecessary by a judge for a second time.

On January 13, head judge Song Kyung Ho dismissed the second pretrial detention warrant request after questioning the accused. He stated, “Considering the contents of the criminal charges that have been laid, well as the accused’s role, degree of involvement, and room for contention within those charges, the progress of the investigation, collection of evidence, and the accused’s behavior in cooperating with the investigation, it is difficult to recognize the necessity for [pretrial] detention.”

I’m sure a lot of takes will be had about this, and I know a cynical outlook on this is uninteresting copy, but as I said before this couldn’t have honestly been all that unexpected given everything that’s transpired so far.

I will point out that this just means he won’t be detained and doesn’t mean it’s over or anything like that.
