Okay, so this news is quite old by now, but I had to post about it because it’s big news for anybody who knows about S#arp‘s infamous bullying scandal (that I mostly explained here). Anyway, Seo Jiyoung used her privilege (group was funded by her family) to physically and mentally bully the hell out of Lee Jihye, even getting her boyfriend Ryu Si Won to participate. At a press conference after a publicized fight, Jiyoung tried to pin the discord on Jihye, but the group’s manager told the truth about the situation, and Jiyoung rightfully took the heat for all the shit she did. It was a massive story at the time and remains an infamous case in Korean entertainment.
Fast forward to recently, and Lee Jihye apparently decided to publicly bury the hatchet on her YouTube channel, inviting Seo Jiyoung to open up about the incident and where they’re at today.
“She was a very close friend who shared a significant chapter of my life, and though there was a brief pause in our friendship, we’ve become close again.”
The two also opened up about the long-standing rumors of discord within the group. Lee Ji Hye said, “Now that we’re greeting everyone together like this, I hope we can stop talking about the discord between the members.” Seo Ji Young coolly admitted, “Well, it was true,” but added, “It’s been too long for it to matter anymore.”
Lee Ji Hye agreed, saying, “It’s been so long. It’s old news now,” and Seo Ji Young chimed in, “No one’s really interested in it anymore anyway.”
I’m sure it helps things that Lee Jihye is successful now and what not, but given what she was put through, I don’t think anybody would blame her for holding a grudge forever. Glad she at least got content out of it, if nothing else, though it probably should’ve been some kind of melodramatic 10-parter ending with Seo Jiyoung groveling at her feet or something.
