NMIXX member Lily recently took to social media to praise the involvement of humanity in music and art, “Isn’t music so unbelievable!? All those talented people coming together to make an art piece. It’s beautiful. I want to protect it forever. Let’s protect the humanity in music.”
Without context, that probably feels like a valid but random shot at the increasing use of generative AI, but it turns out it was actually quite relevant as she and the other NMIXX members were recently subjected to listening to AI impersonating their voices in Chinese for a BiliBili event.
NMIXX reacting to an AI cover of a Chinese song using their voices, and they didn’t seem to enjoy it (especially Lily) 😭😭

so they ended up singing it with their real voices and it sounded way better! pic.twitter.com/YrRNXxbYOs
Lily looks so genuinely uncomfortable having to watch an AI cover using NMIXX’s voices 🥲 pic.twitter.com/VaPhJAdBiD

Charitably, they looked confused. Realistically, it was disgust, and her comments definitely dovetail with their reactions.
Maybe she posted that at the time when this was filmed, but it’s funnier to imagine she just knew it was coming at some point.

Either way, the sentiment is based.
And it’s making inroads in mainstream Korea as well, obviously.
