In all the mess yesterday, I almost missed ZEROBASEONE news entirely, as it felt weirdly unceremoniously released. Anyway, the short of it is the group will continue on under WAKEONE but with only five members: Sung Han Bin, Kim Ji Woong, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae Rae, and Park Gun Wook.
Kim Tae Rae was already under WAKEONE, while Seok Matthew and Park Gun Wook recently signed on with the company. Sung Han Bin will remain with THE L1VE and Kim Ji Woong stays at NEST Management, but WAKEONE and their agencies worked something out.
Of course, ZEROBASEONE originally debuted back in 2023 as a nine-member group following Boys Planet, but the group was essentially split in two due to YH Entertainment (Yuehua Entertainment) taking back Zhang Hao, Ricky, Kim Gyu Vin, and Han Yu Jin, which they announced last month. Presumably that’s for the purpose of debuting the quartet in a boy group of their own.
While I’ve been checked out of the news in terms of how this might be received, I have to assume at least in some respects it’s better to have the group continue on in some form than not. A consolation of sorts, but still the majority at least.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
