Live(ish), for performances that are ostensibly live (not much truly is anymore) and other tangentially-related stuff. It’ll mostly be ones that I enjoyed, but I’ll probably include the rare ones that stood out in the other direction as well.
Like most of these “features”, it’s really just an excuse for me to messily dump stuff that caught my attention.

Ado – “Usseewa” – THE FIRST TAKE

Cinema.
——
Apink – “Mr. Chu” & “U You” & “NoNoNo” Medley – The Seasons: 10CM’s Pat-Pat
Okay, so not only do we get band versions of the medley of songs, but also a rare moment where a K-pop group doesn’t just stick to choreography on stage and actually go into the crowd to interact.
Also, if there’s one thing Eunji is gonna do, it’s belt some fucking notes.
——
Bada (S.E.S.) – “I’m Your Girl” & “Just In Love” & “Dreams Come True” & “Just A Feeling” Medley – The Seasons: 10CM’s Pat-Pat
Peak nostalgia activated by this medley.
Say what you will about the comparatively limited talent pool the first generation groups were drawing from, but at least the best of them made sure there was one member who could fucking sing.

KiiiKiii’s “404 (New Era)” – Dance Practice
While the song grew on me independently from seeing their promotions, the fun choreography and their energy during performances certainly has enhanced the experience. That counts for something in an era where their contemporaries seem consciously drained of life and personality in favor of being cool or whatever.

This is admittedly pushing the definition of the feature, but whatever.

VIXX – “On And On” & “Voodoo Doll” & “Chained Up” & “Shangri-La” & “Love Equation” Medley – It’s Live
I honestly have no idea why they’re doing this medley now, but I’m grateful for it nonetheless. VIXX’s music has been further vindicated by the passage of time and trends, and whether the creators wanna admit it or not, they certainly feel like a significant part of the blueprint for Saja Boys from K-Pop Demon Hunters.
The funny thing is promotions like this kinda nerf the group, as one of their main strengths is the conceptual, visual, and performance aspect of things, but they certainly don’t want for anything while just standing in front of a mic and singing either.

Here’s Amaki Sally dancing to “ELECT” by Niki (Feat. Lily), alongside 22/7 groupmates Tsukishiro Emma and Aikawa Nao, just because.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
