In things I thought was a shitpost but turned out to actually be real, HYBE are selling green, military-looking bags for their ARMY Bomb lightsticks with “It’s Not A Bomb” emblazoned on the side of it. Apparently some have been defending this as a cheeky inside joke for BTS stans, but like … surely normal people have to understand why they wouldn’t want to make light of bombs in public for any reason, much less for fucking K-pop merch.
Well, the criticism over the concept itself got further (and my) attention after fans realized that BTS would be having concerts in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the 21st anniversary of the London Bombings, not to mention around eight years ago the Manchester Arena bombings following an Ariana Grande concert is quite fresh.

I mean, for any reasonable person, the fact that this applies to so many people and places is why it’s a bad idea to begin with, right? Like no matter the country, chances are it’s been impacted by some kind of act of mass casualty event, even if not specifically a bombing, and stuff like this is going to put people on edge for basically no reason whatsoever.
It’s hard to understand the thought process, but HYBE are in the midst of making sniffing their own farts a priority, so I guess in that sense it’s no surprise they figured it was fine.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
