In the most predictable yet major news of the year, JYP Entertainment released a statement today saying that Sunye and Sohee have officially withdrawn from the Wonder Girls, and that the current four-member alignment is permanent.
“Sunye and Sohee, who have promoted as members of the Wonder Girls, have withdrawn from the team. As a result, the Wonder Girls will be promoting as a four-member group (Yeeun, Yubin, Sunmi, and Hyelim).”
As far as reasons go, Sunye withdrew to become a nun or whatever and Sohee to focus on acting.
“In order for her to devote more on her family life, [Sunye] has terminated her contract. Sohee has also decided to withdraw because she desires to focus on the work that she wants to do.”
I mean, they didn’t say that explicitly, but that’s what it is.
In terms of what this accomplishes … nothing, really. It just allows fans to move on from what seemed inevitable to everybody else.
