Crayon Pop’s “Dancing All Night” is alright, but doesn’t feel like them

CrayonPopDancingAllNight

Crayon Pop recently released their second Japanese single of the year, “Dancing All Night“, and much like their other Japanese release, I don’t really have much to say about it.

The positives? The girls continue to look great even in the weirdest shit and the one-shot music video gave it replay value.

The negatives? Most of the rest of it, I think.

It’s not that I hate it, necessarily, but both of their Japanese releases really don’t feel like Crayon Pop from either a song or concept perspective. In Japan, they’re a bit quirky still, but the emphasis is clearly on more basic cutesy stuff. Gone are the tracksuit iljin thugs, the rural farmer techno trot dancers, or the heroes concept that was subsequently ripped off by the nefarious Japanese into Power Rangers and Sailor Moon. Furthermore, and I realize this is to fit the market, but their voices are all squeaky and high now.

Argh.

Also, if Chrome Entertainment doesn’t release some variation of Crayon Pop TV soon, I’m gonna riot.
