VIXX‘s “Chained Up” is not the S&M dungeon anthem all of you wanted, and that’s quite unfortunate because maybe that concept would’ve actually worked.
People got all excited about the chokers in their teasers, especially when it was combined with the title. But the reality is the only thing that differentiates this concept from any other is that choker.
The song is one that maybe could’ve worked if it had an interesting hook, but it didn’t and the whole song gave off more basic vibes than anything else. That’s a shame since VIXX has always come off to me as a group that’s been underrated due to their company’s lack of power, but I can’t say I’d even bother covering this if it was released by a nugu rookie group.
Also, is it just me or does the production sound messed up? I’m not an expert in this field, but the vocals sound fuzzy and the production seems to lack clarity, like the whole thing was recorded in a corn field or something.
