JYP and his plastic pants have returned to bless and terrify on “Still Alive”

JYP has returned to us with “Still Alive“, which seems more like a skit for ‘Saturday Night Live Korea‘ than an actual attempt to make quality music, but that’s just fine with me.

“Still Alive” basically has no hook to note and his quasi-rapping is at times off-kilter and awkward, sounding a lot like how amateurs rap when they do it as a joke. Then he actually tries to rap and it’s almost more awkward. The instrumental is like he took the funk trend and stripped it of the elements that generally make those tracks sound good. So yeah, not a fan.

That said, while the song itself isn’t pleasant to listen to, at least the lyrics managed to troll everybody…

…which definitely earns points. Plus, the whole thing comes off tongue-in-cheek and the music video basically makes up for everything in terms of entertainment value.

So all of that is nightmare fuel in itself, but the coup de grace is definitely this part, which looks like he got six people to react to him on one of those random video chat programs.

I totally understand that guy on the left in the middle.

Imagine if JYP running at you with his plastic pants was the last thing you saw before your life ended.

Anyway, I probably won’t ever listen to the song again without also watching the music video, but there’s more than enough entertainment here to make it worth my time, and quite frankly I’ve needed this after everything has been trending in the direction of way too serious.
