Seungri arrest warrant requested again for 7 charges, including arranging prostitution

It’s been a while since there was any update on Seungri and the controversies surrounding him, but especially regarding the charges for which he had an arrest warrant denied back in May due to questions about the alleged embezzlement. Recently though prosecutors have followed up with another arrest warrant for Seungri.

It was revealed on January 10 that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office filed a request for a pretrial detention warrant for Seungri on seven charges. These charges include habitual gambling, violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, purchasing prostitution services, mediating prostitution services, violation of the Food Sanitation Act, embezzlement, and violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.

Charges filed include allegations of 29 cases of prostitution offered to foreign investors between September 2015 and January 2016, including sharing naked photos of three women in katalk group chat. Seungri was also charged with occupational embezzlement for using part of Yuri Holding Funds to pay lawyer fees as well as charges of habitual gambling in Las Vegas, and alleged violations of Foreign Exchange Law overseas [hwanchigi].

As always, I’d keep expectations low and skepticism high in regards to the justice system making anything stick to Seungri, but at least it is an update.
