Hey, remember when the Instagram account of disbanded girl group Busters was weirdly rebranded and rolled out SweeTeez, the company’s* new AI girl group? That was weird, but recently it got weirder.
*Formerly Marbling E&M, now AI-centered MyBlin9.
On Instagram, the group’s bio says out loud the quiet part about what most companies (and a lot of fans) come to expect from K-pop idols (especially women).

It must’ve got reported or something since the account is currently down, though I’m not sure why they bothered since the bio on the official site is just as bad (or worse).
While the pitch here is obviously trying to appeal to effectively what is the worst type of K-pop fan — the ones who see the humanity of their idols as a problem — it’s honestly worse to think about how this is what the companies see as an idealized version of the industry. Endless youth (as children, probably), endless parasocial girlfriend experience, and endless ability to work is the dream for corporate, because if it takes off it also becomes an endless moneymaking machine and with none of the downsides of having to do the whole pesky human rights thing.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
