Epik High call out Woollim Entertainment and concert ticketing sites

Two stories a month apart, but both involve Epik High justifiably calling out things that suck, so I’m always here for that.

Back in May, the members of the trio posted a video on their YouTube channel where they clean out an old storage unit. In the video, they explain that when they left YG Entertainment a decade ago to go indie, they rushed to back everything and threw it in here, so this is kind of a time capsule of sorts.

While they of course found nostalgic items that were reminisced about, they also discovered their exclusive contract with Woollim Entertainment back at their infancy as a company. They debuted in 2003 at the agency, but rather than having good memories, Tablo expressed his frustration with it, “September 23, 2003. Because of this contract … I made ‘Fly‘, but I didn’t receive a single won. Because of this damn contract, we didn’t get a single won from music revenue.” He followed that up by saying they gave the group shit for eating shrimp but they weren’t paying him for their music.

It was just a quick mention and it wasn’t overly serious, but it understandably shocked people since “Fly” was a huge hit that they composed and wrote, so them not seeing a cent of it is crazy. Like I didn’t hear that shit on loop about 500 times on FIFA 07 just for them to get screwed out of the money.

Well isn’t that some shit?

Meanwhile, Epik High are also returning to North America for their Epik High 3.0 tour, but difficulties with concert ticketing sites led to Tablo posting a rant to his Instagram account.

In it, he calls them out for making it difficult for fans to even navigate the site due to the ancient coding of it and that they hide behind esoteric definitions for packages to further confuse things. He talks about being up late at night trying to solve all the issues that fans are telling him about, closing it with an apology and that he’s trying to get things right.

Just about any rant about Ticketmaster and the likes is valid, really. While I honestly never really hear good things about the experience, K-pop or K-pop related events seem to be particularly disastrous. Amateur hour shit.
